Kindness is not a Weakness

Ozpin sighs as he does his daily walk around campus during class hours.

He takes a sip from his mug of coffee and continued his walk when three voices he was expecting said, "Professor Ozpin?"

Stopping he looked at the rest of Team RWBY, "Yes girls?" he asked.

"Have you heard from Ruby. She's should've been back by now it's been a day" Blake asked.

"I was going to tell you when you returned but it was so late. I decided to tell you after class. There was a family problem with the Rose family, so once Ruby returned from her mission, she went to deal with it. She should be back soon."

"Now, what are you three doing out of class?" he asked.

"We're running an errand for Professor Port. And we saw you and decided to talk about our missing leader" Weiss answered.

The headmaster nods his head "Well, then you three have nothing to worry about and should get to class. Have a nice day girl's." He said turning around and leaving.

"The Rose family? they hardly contact us unless it's Ruby's birthday or her training?" Yang stated.

"Are they that secluded?" Weiss asked.

"Yep. So, I'm curious on what this family problem was, for the little fact that Ozpin is letting her miss school because of it. It's got to be big." The blonde explained.

"Either way, Ruby might tell us when she returns. We should head back to class for now." Blake stated.

Nodding their heads, the three girls make their way back to their class with Professor Port.

Meanwhile...
Ruby grunts as she falls on the ground "Why me?" she groans as she sits up to look at her dad.

Qrow thought her hand to hand combat could use some brushing up and he's showing no mercy. "Good enough to hold your own, but still too weak to fight without relying on your weapon. You're got to kick that habit Kiddo."

"I know."

Just as she said that, Qrow strikes but Ruby dodges and starts to block his attacks and kicks him in the leg knocking off his balance.

Taking this chance Ruby tries to punch him but the Huntsmen dodge ever advance.

Jumping in the air, the huntress does a mid-flip to deliver a upside down kick which Qrow blocked and pushed up.

Using the momentum, the huntress delivers a side kick which was caught, smirking she uses her free foot to kick him in the face.

Knocking him back into a tree.

Qrow chuckles impressed at her quick thinking, "Impressive,"

Ruby looks at her dad proud of herself, "Thanks, I have a great teacher."

"Qrow." Winter's voice called out to him.

Looking at the Schnee who was standing at the entrance to the building, Qrow said, "What"

"Tosaki wants to speak with you." The Schnee replied.

Getting up, Qrow fist bumps Ruby and walks away.

Once he was gone, Ruby sighs as she decides to have a walk around the woods.

She then comes across the back of Kei's head.

But even if she can't see his face, she can see that's something is on his mind, with the way he was sitting down and looking at the screen told it all.

Walking down the small hill, she sits down, wraps her arms around his neck and lays her chin on his shoulder, "So what's on your mind today?" she asked.

Kei lightly flinches in surprise but calms down "It's nothing." He replied.

Ruby tilts her head, not buying that lie "Kei, I know something is on your mind. You can tell me."

"I've been thinking about my father" he answered.

The silver eyed Ajin looks at him shock, "You never talked about your dad? What was he like?" she asked.

"He was kind of like you, kind, stubborn, filled to the brim with emotion, and always tried to help people. But he lost everything because of it."

"Meaning?"

"He was a respected surgeon, and was close to his patients. Once they recovered they would send him letters every year. But one day, when I was 9, a patient couldn't find a kidney donor and so...my dad tried to get them one by getting into the black-market organ trading."

"Ruined him. But he's dead now."

Ruby frowns at that tale "He sounds like a wonderful man, wished I met him."

"He was, but his kindness was his greatest weakness. Which is why I'm making sure not to make the same mistake."

Ruby's eyes widen in surprises and realizes that is the reason he's an emotionless prick? He thinks that showing any emotion or caring for people that aren't worth his time will make him just like his dad.

Moving her arms away and flicks him on the ear and slaps him upside the head.

"Ow!" getting up Kei looked at her as he rubbed his ear "What was that for?"

"That's for thinking kindness is a weakness. Sure, your dad did something that ruined him, but he did it for the right reasons. Like how I saved you from that facility, I knew there was a chance I would be experimented on as well if they found out I was a Ajin, but I wasn't about to leave you there."

She smiles "I'm just too nice to let anyone go through that."

Walking over, Kei sits down next to her and lightly caress her cheek "I know that, but even if you can't die. It still scares me on what your kindness could do to you."

Leaning forward he gives her a short, sweet kiss that was filled with sincerity and passion.

Ruby giggles, she gets up and places her feet on the ground and lays her head on his shoulder.

"For someone who's the jackass of the group, you can be really sweet." She said as she lays her hand on his.

"It's hard to be a jackass to you. You're too kind and selfless for anyone to hate." Kei stated looking down at her.

For the next 3 hours, the couple stayed in that position as Ruby fell asleep and Kei looking down at his tablet.

After seeing the time, Kei sets the Tablet down and decides to come back to it later.

Lightly moving Ruby, he picks her up bridal style and carries her back to her room.

Once she was under the covers he leaves but bumped into a chest.

Looking up he was met with Qrow, the huntsmen's red eyes looked at him in suspicion and anger, "What were you doing in my daughter's room?" he demanded narrowing his eyes at the male Ajin.

"Ruby fell asleep and I just put her to bed, I may be a jackass but I'm not a pervert. I have more honor and brains than to do anything your protective dad mind is thinking of. Besides only a dimwit with a death wish would even think about taking advantage of Ruby."

Qrow smirks "I like your attitude kid." He said as he takes his leave.

Kei looks at the huntsmen in confusion, he'll take that he scored a point into getting into his good books.

He lightly smiles at this and walks back for tablet, once he got it he went to his room and called it a night and went to sleep.
