Lie After Lie

Lie after lie, she said goodbye,
With every story you tell,
You can cast a spell,
Everything went wrong,
Like a bird killed because of its song,
Like a river with no sound,
Like a dog gone hell bound.

Lie after lie, she went and faked a cry,
She said she'd be by my side,
But was washed away by the tide,
Something went right,
Like a cat with some spite,
Like laughter that can't be killed,
Like water that can't be spilled.

Lie after lie, she said I won't let you die,
She let me live for a while,
But I soon fell in a pile,
Nothing is okay,
Like when she left me to decay,
Like water all over the floor,
Like a slamming door.

Lie after lie, she went to say goodbye.
