The blaring noise started as soon as my body stopped dissolving.
"Shanti!" Moonsong shouted over the din. "That's the intruder alarm! You're going to be questioned, but I won't-"
Crow lunged behind me, and I whirled around to see him grappling with a bright female dragon. Her patterns were in the same places as Moonsong's, but different. Instead of patterns shaped like petals, it was jagged slices scattered along the neck, mimicking a tiger's stripes. Her horns were shaped slightly like a ram's, her scales various shades of orange, and from her eye bloomed a series of teardrops and circles. She sliced at Crow, slipping under his defenses and lighting up her patterns, making Crow blink and stumble. "I've never been so outmatched!" He grinned at me over his shoulder, before the dragon whipped her tail under him and leapt on his back. I growled a challenge at her, and she finally looked up at me, her eyes a cool blue to counter her flashy scales. Moonsong gasped from behind me, and the orange female's gaze snapped to her.
"Mo?"
Moonsong's eyes filled with tears as she hugged the dragon. "Tigermoth! It's me!" she cried out joyfully, wings overlapping wings. Tigermoth pulled out of the hug first to stare at Moonsong, just as I stared at their reunion.
"Mo, how...what..." She swept a wing towards Crow and me. "Who are they?"
"She sounds a bit jealous." Crow muttered under his breath to me. I chose to ignore him. "I am Shanti of the SeaWings, and this is Crow of the SkyWings." I announced, inclining my head. Tigermoth's blue gaze flickered over me, then returned to Moonsong. "You brought outsiders here?" Her voice was fierce. "You know your mother will have something to say about that."
"I do indeed Tigermoth." A large female alighted down next to Tigermoth and Moonsong. Her scales were light blue with hints of pink at the edges, and her eyes were the same golden-flecked black as Moonsong's.
"Queen Iridescent." Tigermoth dropped into a bow the same moment that Moonsong blurted, "Mother, I can expla-"
"No, Moonsong, you cannot." The queen's expression was cold as she looked down at us. "Guards, take them. We will interrogate them later."
"No!" Moonsong's cry was drowned out by armored dragons grabbing my forelegs, pulling my wings back so I couldn't fly. "Moonsong!" I tried to shout, but they put a muzzle around my snout, rendering me mute. Crow was soon overwhelmed by the guards, his dark form disappearing in the crowd. But when they put a blindfold around my head, all I could think of was the furious queen and the sad princess, and what would happen to them once this was all over.
