I flew down the stairs, my tail skimming the floor as I swooped inside the cells. The guards started, staring at me for a heartbeat before bowing. "Heir," they said, opening the entrance to Shanti's cell for me. I lifted my chin, dismissing them. "I can handle any trouble they give me." I said, more confidently than I felt. They nodded and left, but I waited until I couldn't hear their footsteps to sigh.

Crow's form blurred as he leapt at me, and I backed up, my wings slamming into the bars. "What are you doing here?" Crow hissed, his voice menacingly low. "I'm here to save you, you shadow-brained idiotic excuse for a dragon." I hissed right back, and Shanti stepped between us. "Moonsong...you came."

"Of course I did!" I said indignantly, refraining from telling her the vow I had spoken under the moon. "I wasn't just going to leave you here."

"I had my doubts." Crow muttered, and I ignored him, instead staring at Shanti. "You're not hurt, are you?"

"No," she replied, "But it'd be great if we could leave."

I looked down at the floor. "Yes, it would." I said, then opened the cell door. "Come on."

"I know how you can get home."
