Why am I still here?
Why does it feel so cold... and so alone?
Sasuke's thoughts swirled in the heavy silence of Orochimaru's underground lair. The dim, sterile room reeked of medicine, chemicals, and death. He lay restrained on a cold metal examination table—wrists and ankles bound tightly, rendering escape impossible. No matter how many times he tried, the restraints held. From the shadowy corner, Orochimaru sat quietly, his pale fingers flipping through his experiment logs and charts.
"Let me go, bastard." Sasuke's voice was sharp, eyes blazing with fury. "What is this—some sick kink of yours? Let me go!"
Orochimaru slowly turned, smirking. "You misunderstand, Sasuke. If this were for my pleasure, you'd already be in pieces—stitched, unstitched, and sewn again." His smile widened, grotesque. "But no... I have other plans for you. You're much more valuable intact." He stepped closer, holding a syringe filled with a translucent serum. "Your body, Sasuke, has endured everything I've thrown at it. That strength... it makes you ideal." He ran cold fingers over Sasuke's abdomen and, without warning, plunged the needle into the flesh just below his navel. Sasuke gritted his teeth, a sharp jolt coursing through him. His vision blurred.
"Now then..." Orochimaru whispered. "You've tried to run so many times. This time, I'll grant your wish. You're free."
You... basta—
Darkness swallowed Sasuke's consciousness.
__________
My head is throbbing...
Sasuke groaned as his eyes fluttered open. The world swam for a moment before sharpening into focus. The village gates. He sat up slowly, blinking in confusion.
How...?
No one was around. He scanned the area.
No guards? Am I hallucinating?
He stood, though uneasily, and immediately felt a strange discomfort in his lower abdomen—foreign, intrusive. It didn't hurt, but something felt... wrong.
"That bastard... what the hell did he do to me?" He pressed the area, wincing.
"Anyways, should we check the forest again?"
"Let's stick to patrols for now."
He looked up. Two shinobi stood atop the gates, chatting casually.
Newbies. Figures. Sasuke took a deep breath and leapt onto a rooftop, finding momentary stillness. Should I stay? Or just disappear again? I left for a reason...But someone needs to know. At least one person. His eyes locked onto the Hokage's tower in the distance. Tsunade. Without hesitation, he jumped rooftop to rooftop until he reached the building. Slipping silently through an open window, he landed inside her office.
Neat. Orderly. Empty. He turned to leave, but the door creaked open.
"Please inform Team 12 that an emergency—" Tsunade froze mid-sentence. Her eyes narrowed. "You—!" Sasuke met her gaze, calm.
"Hey."
She immediately dismissed her assistant and shut the door behind her.
"What are you doing here? Did Orochimaru send you? What does he want now?!" , "I wasn't sent by him," Sasuke said flatly. "I escaped."
Tsunade raised an eyebrow, skeptical. Sasuke sighed, looking away.
"I ran away," he admitted. "He... used me as a test subject. Like a lab rat. I had enough. I came back because I had nowhere else to go. Tsunade approached, staring him down. "You realize no one in this village has reason to trust you, least of all me. You betrayed Konoha. You abandoned your team, your friends... Naruto." Sasuke looked down, silent. "I'll stay here for a bit," he said quietly. "And if you want me gone after that, fine. Lock me up. Kill me. I won't resist. But at least let me rest."
