Kaylee's POV

Today was Friday, and Hunter was over helping me make the cake. Gracie was sitting in her highchair, while Hunter and I baked.

I stood at my counter mixing the batter while Hunter tried trying to find the ingredients for the icing. We were going to make home-made buttercream.

"How do you do this Kay? This is way too hard," he exclaimed suddenly, running his fingers through his hair.

"It's not that hard. Come here," I said, motioning for him to come where I was standing.

He walked over, the cook book in his hands.

"Okay, watch and stir while I make it," I said, handing him the chocolate coated spoon.

"Alright, whatever Miss Kay says."

He began to stir, and I grabbed the ingredients for the icing.

I walked around the kitchen, searching the cupboards. When I had found everything, my arms were full.

I set them down on the counter and got a bowl to mix them in. Then I added all my ingredients, including all the sugar. Then I mixed them together, Hunter watching me from his spot.

"Okay how is it that easy?" He asked, walking over to me.

"You just follow the recipe and mix," I explained.

"And this is why I don't cook."

I laughed and he soon joined in.

"So true!" I exclaimed in between laughs.

He smirked at me. Then I continued stirring.

I kept stirring for a bit, only stopping every once in a while to rest my wrist. Hunter kept mixing the batter until the lumps were gone.

Then I gave him the pan and he dumped it in. He placed it in the oven, then walked into the living room.

"What do you want to listen to?" he called, his voice echoing through the apartment.

"Anything is good," I called back, quickly tasting the icing.

Way to much sugar. Too sweet.

I added some more marshmallow fluff, and continued beating it.

The annoying sound of Justin Bieber pierced my ears.

"Shut that junk off!" I yelled, running into the living room.

He laughed, his phone slipping out of his hand and onto the beige couch.

I punched his shoulder.

"Okay, okay! I will!" He chuckled, skipping the song. He rubbed the spot where I punched him.

"Thank you," I sighed, waking back into the kitchen as George Strait came on.

I kept stirring, occasionally looking over at Gracie. She was sitting there, playing with her elephant. She had a huge smile on her face when she looked up.

Hunter walked around me and over to Gracie. He pulled a bar stool over and sat down. He tickled her little feet and she squealed.

"What are you doing Gracie? Playing with Ellie?" he asked.

She nodded, looking at him with a big eyes.

He opened her high chair up, and picked her up. He blew a raspberry on her stomach and she giggled, hitting his chest lightly.

I smiled and continued stirring. I didn't realize I had stopped.

"So munchkin, what do you want to do? Just me and you. That way your mommy can make your cakes," he asked, looking at me and winking. I laughed.

"I don't think she's going to answer you," I said, thinking of her incessant babbling. She still hasn't said a word, and I can't wait till she does.

"Yeah, your right. Well why don't we just play with your dolls munchkin?" he asked her, adjusting his grip on her.

She giggled as he carried her into the living room. He sat down on the floor and put her down in front of him. He picked up a lion laying on the ground and started playing with it.

I smiled to myself and quickly began working on the other cake.

Hunter was so good with her. I knew he would make a great father. And it helps that Gracie loves him as much as he loves her. He hasn't even known her for long, but she has him in palm of his hand.

Just like he has me in his.

I know I told him to give it some time, but I can feel myself falling harder everyday.

I shook my head. I can't think like that, not right now. It's Gracie's day, not mine.

I finished the second cake and placed it in the oven, taking the other one out. I placed it on the counter to cool.

Then I sat on a bar stool to watch Gracie and Hunter. He was making a silly face at her as they played together.

I looked down at my notebook for a bit to look at my sketches, trying to plan things out in my head. I came up with an attack plan, involving Hunter helping me.

We would start the decorating once the cakes cooled. We still had about 20 minutes till the cakes would be done. So I got some decorating things and began to decorate.

I looked over at Gracie again after a while. She had Ellie in her hand and was staring at Hunter with a hard expression.

"What's up munchkin?" he asked her.

She just stared at him. I looked away. She does that sometimes. I never quite know why, but I think it's because she's thinking.

"Hu-wer," A little voice said.

I heard a gasp and I turned around quickly walking over to Gracie.

"What did you say munchkin?" Hunter asked her.

"Hu-twer." she said again, handing him Ellie. He took it and hugged her.

I smiled as a tear slipped down my cheek.

"Yes baby that's Hunter," I said as I kissed her cheek.

"Hu-twer! Hu-twer! Hu-twer!" she yelled, proud of her new word.

"That's great munchkin!" Hunter yelled, picking her up and spinning her around. She giggled and squealed as she repeated her new word.

Her first word.

Hunter handed me Gracie and smiled.

"What?" I asked, even though I thought I knew why he was smiling.

"I was her first word. I can't believe it."

He smiled and his eyes lit up.

"She said her first word!" I cheered.

My baby was growing up.

"Well we need to celebrate!" Hunter yelled, walking into the kitchen.

"Definitely." I smiled as Gracie giggled.
