Merlin's POV
•••
I woke up, slightly confused, where was I? I looked to my left and saw Arthur, smiling. I smiled to myself, maybe we could be a couple one day.

I got out of the bed and went straight to Gaius. I wasn't sure how to explain this to him, but I'm sure I'd think of something.

"Merlin, where were you? I was getting worried!" Gaius exclaimed.

"I was cleaning Arthur's chainmail in the Armory, I was so tired I fell asleep, sorry Gaius!" I replied, quite impressed with my excuse. He nods and gives me some breakfast,

"Go to Arthur, you don't want to be late, and make sure he stays in bed," he says, I smiled and skipped off to his chambers. Half of me wished I had just stayed where I was. I loved being that close to Arthur. I got to his room and saw Arthur was still sleeping, I smiled, he looked so peaceful.

"Rise and shine," I say, opening the curtains. Arthur gets up,  he was slightly confused. But he suddenly groans in pain.

"No, Arthur, don't get up," I hurried over to him, I bring him back into bed, placing the duvet over him,

"Merlin, what happened yesterday- I would've woken you, but you fell asleep," he explains, stuttering, I smiled. I knew the real reason he wanted me there, but I would never let it on that I knew it.

"Don't worry, it's fine, Sire,"

3rd Person's POV
•••
"It's going to be so boring today," Arthur says, sighing. He loved every moment, sleeping with Merlin was something he only dreamt of. It made it easier for him to get to sleep, he had the best nights sleep in a while.

"Gaius gave me a day off to look after you, I'm so tired," Merlin yawns, giving the prince his breakfast.

"Why did you get out of bed then?" Arthur asks, if Merlin wasnt daydreaming at the time he would have heard hurt in the Prince's voice.

"Because, I didn't want Gaius to worry," Merlin explained and Arthur understood. There was a knock on the door, Merlin got up from sitting on the bed and pretended to be doing some work.

"Enter," Arthur says, Gwen and Morgana come in. Merlin smiles at his friends, thank God he wasn't stuck with the royal prat all day.

"Arthur, just wanted to see how you were," Morgana states, giving Gwen a knowing look towards them both. Every few seconds Arthur would look towards Merlin.

"Oh, I'm great thanks," he says, blushing slightly. Morgana smiles,

"Must have been quite a hit," she comments, Gwen stands there awkwardly. She used to take a fancy to Merlin, but since Lancelot came, Gwen felt like she was in love.

"Yeah, he's a good fighter," Arthur frowns in confusion, he didn't know why they were there, he just wanted some alone time with Merlin, was that too much to ask for?

"Well, I better get going," Morgana says finally, Merlin looks at her,

"So soon?" He asks, Arthur looks at Merlin, astonished, and with a tint of jealousy in his eyes.

"I've got to ride with Uther, remember, and Gwen, you can have the day to spend with your Father," Morgana says sweetly, Gwen grins,

"Oh, thank you so much, my lady!" They both leave the room in a hurry, and Gwen gave Lancelot a high five as they walked out of the door. The knights were ready to cause chaos.

"Thank God they left, I don't get why they even came," Arthur complains bitterly, he didn't want people to see him like this. Merlin laughs,

"They care about you," he yawns, mid sentence, "that's why," he finishes, Arthur frowned,

"Did you get enough sleep?" The care in Arthur's voice made Merlin get butterflies, Gwaine and the others held their breathes, they had to pick the right moment to enter.

"Yes, I had great sleep," Merlin blushes, "it's just I woke early," he explains,

"Well, why don't you lie back down? It's not like we are doing anything today, and you're still looking after me," Arthur added. He missed being close to Merlin. He wanted to feel alive again. Merlin thought for a moment and then smiled,

"Ok, sure," he wasn't going to turn down an offer for sleeping. He got in next to Arthur. Merlin didn't know what it was but he actually felt better being so close to Arthur. They both were blushing like maniacs, and before they had time to process what was going on, there was another knock on the door, to which Merlin rolled out of the bed and onto the floor with a bang. Gwaine tried not to laugh as they entered the room.

The knights and Arthur stared at Merlin, who was lying on the floor, trying to think of an excuse.

"I'm looking for woodworm," he says simply, knocking at the floor and listening in. Arthur sighed in relief at Merlin's excuse and turned his attention back to the knights.

"Gwaine, Percival, Lancelot and Leon, what do I owe this... Pleasure?" Arthur says, trying not to act annoyed that his moment with Merlin got interrupted.

"We just wanted to see how you were, my lord," Gwaine said, smirking. Arthur rolls his eyes,

"After this, no more interruptions, I need to... Rest," he says lying through his teeth. The knights nodded, their job was done.

"Of course, my lord, hope you get better soon," Sir Leon says and they leave the room. The four looked at each other, knowing they had done their bit,

"Who wants to go to the Tavern?" Gwaine says and the knights cheer as they head to get a few drinks.

Merlin chuckled, of course they'd spend their day off in the Tavern. He was about to try and get off the floor, when Arthur held a hand out to him. Blushing, Merlin took it, and awkward silence filled the air.

"Why did you get rid of them?" Merlin asks breaking the silence.

"I - I just wanted to be alone," he replies, confusing Merlin.

"What-"

Arthur had closed the gap between them, they were kissing, soon they were in sync with each other, both were fighting for dominence. Arthur brought Merlin closer to him as the kiss went on. Before long, they were both out of breath, grinning happily.

"That's why," Arthur whispers, Merlin grins as he leant on Arthur's shoulder.

"Seems like a fair reason," Merlin replied, smirking.
