Chapter 10

Lily

I wake up in my bed alone no Jesse.

No Jesse?

"Jesse!" I scream.

My mother bursts into my room and wraps me up in her arms.

"Funeral today," She whispers stroking my hair.

We arrive at the funeral and it isn't how Jesse would have wanted it. It is dull and sad and doesn't embody him at all. I am too furious to notice my mother hugging Jesse's mother. God! It takes a tragic death to finally make them realise their feud was pretty ridiculous. I stare at the ground. The ceremony hasn't even started yet and I feel I might cry.

The ceremony ends and everyone leaves but I stand at the front of the church staring into nothingness. Thinking about how stupid this is and how little Jesse's parents cared about him and about how life is too short to be angry at people or sad. Then a tear rolls down my cheek and my sobs echo around the church. Then a long arm wraps around my shoulder and a deep croaky voice says,

"I will always be here Lily, I will always be here for you," I turn and look into his deep blue eyes and wrap my arms around his warm body. I press my cheek to his chest and listen to his steady heartbeat. Cullen.
