Avery Silversky almost gagged as she saw a group of her professors carrying in pink paint to redecorate her teacher's room with. Pink? Like dresses, pink was for quitters and frilly little princesses with no destiny. She only wore her mahogany dress because she was allowed no other clothes since she was thrown out of Dustlantern. Probably because of all these teachers were afraid of her since she was from a different planet. But they should be afraid. With her new headmaster, she was on lockdown every day of her life. No longer able to do villainous things, Avery's life soon began to dull and she longed for freedom, being able to be a villain, and the cuffs to be taken off of her skin. This place was torture, and she wasn't the only one who wanted to go back to their villainous ways. Jax was in too, even if he did look a little bit too princely to be a petty thief like her.
"Miss Silversky, a word about your father?" Avery's teacher Mr. Juldo announced quietly behind Avery's desk. However, she was not the only who heard what he said. Jax's eyebrows shot up straight to the moon, as if to say "boy, are you sure gonna be in trouble!"
"Which one?" Avery answered cooly. Sticking her tongue out at the teacher's back, Avery swiftly grabbed the crutches next to her desk through the cuffs and began hopping back to the teacher's desk.
"Your father, King Expella is here, in the school and is trying to break you out, today. He's disguised as a student. Don't listen to him if he wants you to escape. He's just freeing you so that you can join him in evil later. After all we've gone through together, can't you see that being good is the right choice here? That's what being reformed means!" Avery nodded her head innocently, but truthfully, Avery hadn't been reformed one single bit. Being reformed was for losers who thought this place was cool and then just did something to get thrown in here. She was from a different planet. Evil things that she had done were things these jokers had probably never done in their entire lives. Evil Exerians like her liked the roaring current. Evil Corannians like Jax liked the calm current. "And one last thing, you and your roommate are on lockdown drill in your room from here on out. Don't go out even in dire circumstances, got it?" Avery nodded her head rapidly and almost screamed with joy. Nobody would mess with King Expella if he was here! She was outta here tonight! The kid named Beatrice Jax had told her about had been let out of Reform School, so now Jax was her roommate. Avery grabbed Jax's hand excitedly and raced him up the stairs and slammed the door behind him. She had forgotten her crutches in the room, so she had had to hop, but hopping was her kind of style. Jax stared at her as she double locked the door.
"Whatcha doin'?" Jax asked unsurely. Avery looked him square in the eye as he wavered under her gaze.
"You're my friend, so you are going to help me escape tonight. I don't want to wait for my father if you can just untie my ropes for me right now."
Jax shuddered violently. "So you're suggesting that if I free you, you're going to jump to your death? That's suicide!"
Avery smiled and a mischievous twinkle crossed her eyes. "Oh, I think you may be surprised. I have a future ahead, and I'm not going to spend it in here," she cackled. Jax smiled as well and kissed her cheek.
"Well then best luck to you, my daughter, may we meet again." Suddenly the Jax Avery knew disappeared, and a man with a black cloak, fiery red hair that covered his eyes, royal gold crown, tight black jeans and black sneakers took Jax's place, holding his hands in the air. Her father started chanting and her cuffs disappeared. Avery took a few moments to test out her legs, then shook his hand.
"May we meet again," Avery repeated as King Expella took a scroll out of his cloak pocket.
"Is this what you want?" He was momentarily stunned to see that his daughter hadn't left yet, but showed her the WANTED sign. It said: Powerful villain named Avery Silversky wanted throughout all three realms. Bring to King Expella alive. Broke out of Reform Boarding school and is on the loose. Reward: 100 gold coins. Avery nodded and he folded it back up, then the scroll disappeared. "You need to build your villainous base and make people fear you! I've done some for you, but you have to do the rest now. Once you have established it, then I will come for you, Avery, and we can live together in my palace. You can be my evil heir. Your other father doesn't know. WANTED signs won't be posted in his area. Also I will leave you here in Corrane. When you feel you are ready to become my apprentice, I will know and I will come." Avery smiled wickedly and kicked open the window. She saw her father watching behind her, and then she put her toes on the edge and jumped, diving toward the sky and towards the city streets, ready to create some trouble.
