january 29 - düsseldorf, germany - adriane pov
After I found a place in the airport to relax for a bit I texted Eric about the plan for today. Eric had explained that when I landed he would pick me up from the airport, then bring me to his house where I could freshen up. Then, he said that they had a morning training session that if I wanted I could surprise Dele at and then we'd go from there.
After we finished our talk, I stocked up on food and water and walked over to my gate. It was perfect timing, they had just started boarding the plane.
When I got through the line, down to the plane and finally in my seat I said a friendly hello to the two people besides me. Eventually, as the plane lifted off, I closed my eyes and put in my earbuds, slowly drifting off to sleep.
"Um, excuse me love, but the stewardess just asked me to wake you up as we're landing shortly." The middle aged man next to me said in a meek British accent.
I groaned quietly as I slowly opened my eyes. "Oh, thank you." I mumbled, stretching my arms out in front of me. Then man nodded kindly and turned his attention back to his book.
I looked out the window as we slowly descended. As we broke through the clouds, I gazed down at the English farmland.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, Welcome to the United Kingdom and London Heathrow International Airport. The local time is 7:32 am with a temperature of 14 degrees Celsius. We hope you enjoyed your flight and thank you for flying British Airways." The flight attendant finish her intercom speil. I yawned as we pulled up to the gate. I stood up, ready for the long lines that awaited me before I could get out of the airport.
By the time I had reached the line for customs after getting my luggage it was almost 8:00.
Just reached customs! Should be quick
I texted Eric before getting in the line for EU citizens. Since my dad, Julian's dad's brother was from Germany, I had dual citizenship as well which made my life much easier when travelling in Europe.
About 15 minutes later I was walking towards the wall of doors with a sign above that read; 'UK border'. I took a deep breath before I stepped out. Eric should be waiting outside, and he would be the first of many friends I had made in the last few months that I would be meeting in person.
I stepped through the automatic doors and immediately my eyes were drawn to a tall man with dark sunglasses on and a hood over his head. He smiled as we made eye contact. That could be no one but Eric, attempting to go undercover.
"Eric!" I grinned as I approached him. "It's so good to finally meet you."
He pulled me into a hug, laughing. "I can't believe you saw me so easily, I was trying to be sneaky. But you too Adriane. Del's going to be so excited when he see's you."
I grinned. "Let's go then."
He nodded and started walking out to the parking lot. "Oh, and Adriane." He started.
"Hm?" I responded, my eyes fixed on my shoelaces.
"You're shorter than I thought you'd be."
"Shut up."
