Kayden's POV
"Uncle, remember when I told you I didn't believe in magic?"
I asked him with my arms crossed as I looked in his direction. There I was in the basement with my teacher, Leroy Pierre, he stays with my dad and I. I always saw Uncle Leroy as a father figure because he lived with us ever since my mom passed away and my dad fell into a deep depression because of that. He raised me as his own ever since I was ten years old and took care of my dad and I. I trust him with my whole life and tell him everything about myself.
"Of course I do, you've always been a pessimist when it came to magic, I know that for a fact."
I let out a chuckle, memories of Uncle Leroy doing his amateur magic tricks when I was younger replayed in my mind's big screen. I remembered when i was a teen, whenever anybody tried to do a magic trick, I would throw the biggest temper tantrum because it reminded me of my mom. After her death, I hated the thought of magic and everything to do with it. It was from the first day I saw Chantelle to the first time I saw her do her magic tricks that I started to believe again.
"Well, I think I believe in magic again now."
The ends of my lips curved up to form a smile as I looked up at the ceilings of the basement. I thought to myself, Mom, are you proud of me yet? I believe in magic again, one of your favorite things that reminds me most of you. I know you never wanted me to stop believing in magic, not even for a second, but losing you hurt so much that I stopped, but now I believe again and I won't ever stop believing in magic and in you.
"What changed your mind?"
"This girl, if you meet her, you'd believe in magic too."
"Must be a really special girl."
"She is... She reminds me so much of mom..."
"I'm sure your mom would have loved her if she had the chance to meet her, I have absolutely no doubts about it."
Tears unknowingly started streaming down my face as I felt a slight pain in my chest. I looked down at the ground, trying my hardest to breathe. Uncle Leroy made his way towards me and wrapped his arms around me, gently stroking my back, trying to calm me down and repetitively telling me everything's going to be okay.

I made my way upstairs to my dad's room to check on him. I saw him sleeping peacefully on his bed, holding onto a framed picture of my mom. I smiled sadly as I looked at my dad, helping him cover the sheets over his body to prevent him from getting cold at night. I looked over to see the framed picture of my mom and admired how beautiful she looked in that picture. I pressed a kiss on my dad's forehead before making my way to my own room.
I placed everything on my desk before heading towards the showers. I took off all of my clothes and turned on the tap of my showers. I shut my eyes closed and let the hot water hit my body as I immersed myself in my thoughts. Mommy, I know that you are with dad and I, even though you're far away. Please help dad get better, he misses you everyday Mommy. I know you live in our hearts, always.
