Large gold eyes peeked out from under the soft pink comforter. She hated the dreaded thing, even at the age of 7, but her mother insisted she act like a girl and not like the tomboy she really was.
Her father's Banette dozed off beside her atop the comforter to keep her safe from the oogie-boogies that hid under the bed and in the closet of young children. Ironic really, a ghost Pokemon protecting a child from such imaginary fears, but still...
However, her eyes were now trained on the three Poke-dolls her mother had bought that day, insisting that they were something every girl wanted... Every girl but Rayna. Now the Torchic, Skitty, and Beautifly dolls sat upon the shelf, their inanimate glass eyes seemingly staring at her through the dim lighting in her room.
She squeaked and hid her face under the covers again, causing Banette to peek open an eye and glance at the lump in the covers. Sighing the ghost got up, padded silently over to what he knew was the source of the child's fear and promptly stuffed the dolls in her closet with the other 'oogie-boogies' much to Rayna's happiness.
------
"Oh, it's so cute~!" cooed the blue-haired coordinator happily, hugging the Flareon plushie close to her body. Rayna turned her gaze over to Dawn before freezing rather noticeably.
Her Duskull's sole red eye fixed itself to her and then to the Pokedoll in Dawn's hand quickly deducing what was wrong with his Trainer. Rayna was oblivious to her Pokemon's deductions and what he had planned, instead her golden eyes stared horrified through her messy black bangs at the Flareon doll's soulless glass eyes as they seemingly stared right back at her.
It was the eyes, really, they always seemed to be watching you - following you around the room...
Dawn grinned at the older Trainer, one who always seemed so tough and foreboding, even when around those she counted as friends. But she had to have a soft spot somewhere, Dawn wanted to find it. And so the Coordinator promptly thrusted the Flareon plushie in Rayna's direction unknowingly and remained oblivious to the dark female's mental torment.
"Isn't it the most adorable thing you've ever seen, Rayna?" Dawn happily interrogated. Rayna shivered, stuffing her hands in her trench coats pockets to stop Dawn from seeing them shake in the presence of her phobia. That was before it began moving in Dawn's hands causing both of them to stiffen at the odd phenomenon.
Duskull, or Skelly as he was nicknamed, mentally grinned from inside the now 'haunted' Pokedoll. Sure, he cared for his Trainer, but he liked pranking and freaking people out more, and this was definitely the perfect opportunity to do so.
Both girls screamed - Dawn even threw the Flareon doll to the floor and ran over by Rayna's side, decidedly away from the plushie.
--------
Brock and Ash jumped hearing the two girls scream [as well as the Pokemart's cashier who promptly ducked and covered under his counter - as if he expected a shoot out to start any time soon]. As they skidded around the racks of items to find the aisle the two girls were at they were in for quite the surprise.
"What's going on?" Ash shouted startled, as Pikachu shouted his own question from his shoulder.
"Are you alright?" was Brock's question though the two never got a straight-out answer. Instead, the found that Dawn had jumped behind Ash, her hands on his shoulders and pushing forward at the object of their fear and Brock? Well, he was a little preoccupied, what with Rayna having wrapped her arms around his waist and buried her face in his neck. He was quick to return the embrace, love-struck and totally forgetting what had been happening in the first place.
"Kill it, kill it, kill it!" she was mumbling hurried into his neck, while Dawn was shouting something along the same lines pushing Ash closer to the haunted Pokedoll. Duskull floated out, giggling happily at his prank gone right.
