where did the moon go?

moon?
what's it like up there?
are you lonely?
do you wonder what life
is like down here?
do you ache to know the feeling
of skin on skin like me?
does it bother you that you
watch others be happy with
their couple love and you can't
join them?

it bothers me

and do you wonder what
it's like to feel the warmth
of the sun?
of a million suns?
does your skin ache to be warmed
by the touch of your counterpart?
when you are so cold that
you can hardly stand it?

and don't you feel stuck?
going in a circle around
the one thing that could save you?
that could make you feel warm?
that could make you feel human?
does it feel like an endless cycle
like i feel im stuck in?
to forever be just close enough
to see the one you love
but far enough away to
never know their presence?

he burned so brightly,
it blinded me
i only wanted to look at him more
his touch went cold, and
then it completely stopped
and now i feel alone

he wasn't any good for me
i knew that
but part of me wanted to
believe there was good in him
part of me knew there was good
in him waiting to be unleashed
but he wouldn't let me touch
every time i got close enough
he burned me

so moon, how do you feel?
do you wish you were with him?
do you wish his warmth would
cradle you once more?
or, like me, are you scared to
get close again, for the last time
you did, it burned to the core?
