The Untold Paradox

Chapter 1

It was a hot and humid summer day, student from class 2B was walking to the store room to gather the sport equipment even though they did not want to do anything in the hot day. Ga-in and Yeo-Jin was opening the store room with a key that their teacher had given to them since they were the class volunteer. As they open the big blue door of the store room, they could smell heavy stanch coming from inside the store room. 

The smell was so bad that the smell can be reach to the end of the corridor. Ga-in and Yeo-Jin did not want to enter the store room as it was so smelly. When they saw a cleaning lady, Yeo-Jun run towards her and told her that the store room has a bad smell. The cleaning ajumma follow the girls to the store room, she too smell the stanch even without reaching the store room. She walk in while closing her mouth and nose. She switch on the lights and start to search where the smell would have come from. As she walk further into the store room which was big as the school had place all the sport equipment in the store room. As she was walking to the last shelves, the stanch was so bad that she feel like vomiting. She could see files, ant and insect were crawling to one spot at the back. As she get closer, she could see a body was hanging down the ceiling. She immediately run out of the store room and close the door. She took the keys from the girl lock it and run to the general office to report it. The girls stood there dumbfound on what just happen to the cleaning lady.

It was 3pm almost 3 hours since the cleaning lady found a girl hanging in the store room. The forensic team and the police had blocked the store room. The forensic team starts to collect evident while the police start to take statement from everyone in the school. Mr. Won the school Principal of Myung Min High School was bought into questioning. After hours and hours of investigating finally the Chief Officer Yong had close the case as a suicide case. They found a suicide letter inside the dead girl bag and close it as it was a suicide. Everyone including her family believe that she had kill herself after she found out that she could never run anymore after she was injure in a running competition a few weeks ago.

Officer Ban walks to his desk and saw a familiar lady was seating in front of his desk. He stop behind her and says,

"What are you doing here?" The lady stood up and turns around. She gives him a smile which he had missed looking at.

"You should have welcomed me properly since we have not met each other for very long time!" said Mi-ran. Ban walk to his desk and sat down without looking at her. How could he, she left him few day before their wedding to marry another guy who was richer that him who was only a detective. Mi-ran sat back now and says,

"Are you still angry with me?" Ban immediately look up and says,

"Should I still be angry?"

"Come on it has been 10 years! And I have divorce him already!" said Mi-ran trying to smooth him so that he could help her with her favor. Ban look at her and was shock to heard that she had already divorce that jerk who marry her in the first place but he still keep his cool and says,

"Why he can't put up with the bitchy side of you?"

"To make you feel better, no he can't." said Mi-Ran. Both of them look at each other they could see each other and no one else. They could feel the tenseness in the area.

"After all this time why are you here Mi-Ran?" said Ban while looking at her seriously.

"There is a case I need you to take." said Mi-Ran while she passes him a confidential file. Ban look at the file and back at her. He had forgotten that that Mi-Ran used to be a prosecutor before she marries that jerk.

"What is this?" said Ban has he flip over the flip and start to read the content of the file.

"Suicide cases from Myung Min High School." said Mi-Ran.

"So... the police close the case as suicide."

"But I don't think it was a suicide! I want to reopen the case but I can't. I need evident saying that all this kids had not died from killing themselves." said Mi-Ran.

"Why are you so confident that this is not a suicide case? And you are no longer a prosecutor." said Ban.

"I got back my job right after the divorce and my first case was sent by an anonymous person requesting to reopen the case. I have evaluated it and I can sense that it's not a normal suicide cases."

"The police close it as that, I can't do anything!" said Ban while he stood up and wanted to walk out from their conversation.

"5 kids every 4 months, different suicide methods but the same reason. They were once strong but now weak after whatever reason it was that makes them valuable and also an easy target to kill." said Mi-Ran while she walks towards him with the file. She throws the file at his chest,

"The last victim was a month ago, in the next 4 months there will be another victim. Another kid who is so innocent is going too died and we have to stop it. You can either do it with me or wait till another kid gets kill. The life of this kid is up to you, you choose." Ban look at how serious she was, the passion that he always love about her is burning in her eyes. They were the best duo in investigating killer until she left him. Mi-ran walk away leaving him to decide whether to investigate the case or to let another kid died before they do anything about it.
