Chapter 2I started to clean the blood off my dagger, when a cloud of smoke, filled the room. The familiar smell of blood and death oozed from the floor and I gently placed my knife down onto the table. I wasn't surprised when a agony filled shriek, echoed off the wall as a dark figure crawled up from under the ground and hauled itself through a freshly made hole in the carpet.
It's sharp talons, shredded the clean fabric in desperate grips. Using its upper body strength, it pulled the rest of its body from the hole and the fog disappeared. Standing in front of me, its black body had flesh hanging off of it and its eyes were empty sockets.
"Massssster wouldddd likkkke tttto ssssssee yyyyou."
The demon hissed.
I stood up and put my dagger into my waist band and resisted the urge to roll my eyes as the fog reappeared.
Demons were so dramatic.
I jumped down into the hole leading to hell, not checking if the demon had followed me back or not. They were so annoying. And now I had to get someone to fix my carpet in my apartment.
Great.
I landed onto the charcoal covered ground, harshly. My ankles cried in agony as my bones made a popping sound. I hastily got onto my feet and fisted my hands tightly as the heat of the fire around me, burned my skin. I stayed still for a moment, letting my body adjust before walking again.
Two demons appeared beside me with stoic faces. I was grabbed by my elbows by each one, their talons cutting into my soft flesh. Gritting my teeth, they pushed me forward, stopping at a large black door. The doors creaked open and I was shoved inside, landing onto my knees. I didn't dare look up because I could feel his beady eyes drilling into my skull.
"Rise." A throaty voice chuckled in dark amusement.
I slowly stood back up and lifted my head,
"Two targets eliminated, Sire."
His black eyes twinkled and his eyebrows shot up,
"Your losing your touch Huntress! Do you need more inspiration?" he challenged.
I let out a deep breath before locking eyes with him and gritting out,
"No, Sire".
I bowed my head again, tired of his penetrating gaze as he stood up from his throne made of diseased body parts, that had two departed heads lying at his feet. Tapping his black talon against someones leg that was now an armrest, he walked over to me and held out his blood red hands impatiently.
"Let me see what quests you have left."
Digging my hands into my hoodie's pocket, I grabbed a handful of the disposable phones and got down on one knee, offering it to him. Smacking the phones out of my hands, he yanked me back up by grabbing my throat and lifted me off the ground, squeezing tightly. My face turned purple and I locked my hands behind my back to prevent myself from trying to claw out of his painful grip.
Satan laughed mockingly,
"This is how much you still have!"
With one last small chuckle, he threw me across the room, making me hit the wall and bang my head. My side ached as I struggled to get back up, ignoring the blinding heat that fell onto my skin because of my body contact with the never ending flames of the walls.
He approached me again, nailing his foot onto my head, slowly adding pressure,
"You are losing your keep, Huntress. Those quests better be done soon, or you will have to remember some things."
I nearly cried out as he pushed down extra hard before lifting his foot and walking off. Sitting on his throne, he threw me a sly smirk, right before I blacked out feeling tingles in my hands.
(Flashback)
"Are you sure we should be doing this?" I mumbled.
"It's perfectly safe, let's go." he whined, grabbing my hand.
With a huff, I stomped up the stairs listening to the sound of his excited laughter, momentarily making me forget of my fear of heights. But that soon wore off as he yanked open the door to the roof of the abandoned hotel. I squeezed his hand tighter as he pulled me into the outdoors. The wind picking at our clothes and chilling our bodies.
"Isn't it everything you ever imagined! Look at the view!"
I slowly opened my eyes, not noticing I closed them and let out a gasp at the sight. The night sky was lit up with stars and the city twinkled with lights. I gently let go of his hand and walked towards the edge, careful to not look down. I ignored the dryness of my throat as I wearily stole a peek and stumbled back as I realized how high we were. Sighing softly, he walked over to my rigid figure and engulfed me into his arms with a small smile,
"Your such a wimp." he mocked jokingly.
Instead of replying, I buried my head into his chest and clutched his shirt, rumpling it inside my hand, with a weak whimper.
His arms tightened slightly, before he gently pulled away, not letting go of my hand.
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have brought you up here. I know how you are about heights but I just thought......never mind, let's go."
He casted a sad glance around the old rooftop, before letting go of my hand and opening the door, motioning for me to follow.
My heart felt heavy and I looked back over my shoulder at the night sky. I didn't like when he was sad, especially because it was my fault. A lone tear rolled down my cheek and I wiped it off with my thumb, letting out a sniffle.
Without a word, I jogged over to the steps and slammed the rooftop door shut.
"If only he knew....."
(End of Flashback)
With a gasp I jolted awake, painfully aware of my aching head and stiff body. I looked around and realized I was still in the same room except, Satan wasn't sitting on his throne. Scrambling up I walked out, trying to walk past the two demons who escorted me, without them noticing. I scoffed as I saw the large hole coming from the ceiling that would lead me to my clean and expensive apartment.
Bending my knees for more stamina, I jumped up, barely catching the edges of the ceiling with my fingers. Using the unnatural strength in my arms, I lifted myself up and hauled my body onto the floor of my apartment. With a grimace I lugged myself onto my feet, trying to tune out my raging migraine. Stumbling into the kitchen, I sank onto the cold tile floor, resting my back against the fridge.
Hell is just to hot for me.
