Chapter 5

"Why are you here?"

"Good afternoon, to you too Uncle."

"Get out."

"It's great to see you, Uncle."

"I don't let demons come into my home!"

I stared at him in amusement as my soaked clothes continued to drip on the welcome mat in front of his door.

"Well you broke that rule when you decided to marry Aunt Martha."

Just as I expected, his face started to turn red with anger before he opened the door wider and allowed me to come in. Mumbling along the lines of,"These teenage hoodlums...". As I plopped my wet self onto his green couch, and put my feet up on his coffee table. He disappeared for a moment, before coming back into the room and throwing a red towel at my face. I caught it before it hit me and gave him a lift of my brow.

"Hurry up and dry off so you can leave. This is a holy place."

I looked around the shady apartment in disgust. Wet spots were on the ceiling, stains littered the rug, the couch was uncomfortable and lumpy. And I cringed as I took in his appearance. His face was rough and unshaven, dark bags hung under his eyes, his tank top had sweat stains that went all the way down to his beer gut. Not to mention that his jeans were baggy and had rips and tears in them. I don't even want to get started on the shoes...

"Well if this is your idea of holy, I suggest you switch over to the dark side."

Crinkling his nose, he scrummaged in his jean pocket before stumbling over to me and putting a pocket knife to my neck.

"I rather stay on the light side than be someone like you, who is worst than a demon itself."

He pressed the knife against my neck harder and I felt liquid start to drip down my shirt.

"Now Uncle, is that any way to treat your favorite niece?"

Snarling in disgust he reared back, determined to decapitate me but at the last second, I grabbed his knife and stood up, putting him in a head lock and throwing the knife onto the ground.

"LET ME GO!" he roared,

Earning a light chuckle,

"Now, now, Uncle. I simply came over for a nice visit but you just had to get violent. Where is the love?"

Grasping my arm around his neck with his clammy hands, he tried to wiggle out but I held on tighter.

"I lost my niece, the moment she killed her parents!"

Letting him go, I pushed him onto the ground and sneered,

"It wasn't my fault."

I didn't wait to hear his response because I was already out the door, walking back into the endless tears from the sky.

Well there goes my shelter from the rain.

I knew it was a stupid choice to go to my Uncle's house. Just because because he was the closest place I could think of that would hide me from the rain, doesn't mean I should go barging back into my old life. Frankly, it was against Satins rules anyway, I just choose to ignore him. Sure, he could kill me whenever he wanted to but right now, he needed me and my abilities. Killing my parents was just the first step in gaining his trust and approval. But I didn't do it in cold blood. Everyone who is my target, had to commit something terrible enough to get on the list. They were not as innocent as my Uncle and relatives believe. Who was I, to break the news to them? As far as they know, I traded my soul to the devil. And that was a sin.

Glancing around, I tried to locate where my motorcycle was but I couldn't remember if I brought it or not. Like a spark of lightning, my memory finally let me in on the mystery and I cursed at my own stupidity. Of course, I chose to walk on the one day that it decides to rain. Now that I think about it, the day I was assigned to kill my parents, was quite similar to this one. Except for the fact that I was smart enough to bring my Harley, and my hands weren't tingling because Satan found out that I ignored him.

(Flashback)

I wiped my sweaty palms onto my jean pants as I flipped my first assignment open. My eyes darting left to right before I deemed it safe and checked out the information. This was my first job and I was determined to finish it! Scrolling the information, my lungs froze in shock as anxiety rose in the pit of my stomach.

No.

No..

Please no...

Tell me I'm wrong....

Somebody!.....

No!.......

My eyes bulged and I clenched my fingers around the phone in despair. This was too cruel, I can't do this. Looking back, I tried to find at least one piece of information that would prove me wrong, but when I got to the picture, I inhaled sharply. Lush, black hair, similar to mine, haunted me along with the feminine green eyes that I had always wanted to inherit.

Mom.

A strong, chiseled jaw with a low shave, gritted my stomach as a tear dripped out of my eye. Grey, eyes, drilled into my identical ones and I whispered,

"Dad".

This isn't fair! Suddenly angry, I punched in the speed dial button and demanded answers.

What I heard however, was something that changed my entire perspective of the people who raised me. It only made me realize how filthy and deceiving humans can be.

Just like he was.

(End of Flashback)

Ever since that day, I could never look at my family the same way again. Let them hate, because if they knew the truth, it would only make matters worse.
