Chapter Three

Mackenzie

I held my knees against my chest as I sat on the floor of the handicap stall. Everything was at a blur and I couldn't comprehend what had just happened.

He knew I liked him, he knew exactly what he was doing.

I heard the door to the bathroom squeak open. I quickly brought my hand to my mouth to stop the sobs from escaping.

"Kenz?" I heard a voice call out.

And I lost it.

I started balling right after I had just calmed down. I saw a blonde figure crawl under the stall.

"Oh Kenz," Brynn said as she sat next to me and pulled me close.

Brynn was the only person who knew about me liking Hayden and about the kiss.

I never told Johnny because he would be furious. Even though Hayden was his best friend, Johnny didn't see him as "good enough" for me.

I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket. I looked down and say an incoming call from Johnny.

I looked at Brynn through my tear covered eyes and she sighed. She took the phone from my hand and answered it, putting it on speaker so I could listen.

"Hello?" She said.

"Brynn? Is that you? Where's Kenzie? Is everything okay?" He said starting to panic.

She looked at me asking for approval to tell, but I shook my head.

"Calm down, everything's fine. Kenzie's just... going to the bathroom and told me to hold her phone, yeah."

"Um okay? Can you tell her to hurry up, i'm driving her home," he replied.

"Oh she didn't tell you? We're going to my house for a sleepover. Okay, bye!" she said hanging up the phone and handing it back to me.

"Cmon, lets get out of here, it smells," Brynn said standing up and extending a hand to me.

I grabbed her hand and she pulled me up. I stopped in front of the mirror and looked at my face.

My eyes were red and puffy, and my cheeks were stained with tears.

I sighed before taking my hand and running them down the sides of my face.

When we walked out, very few people were still there. We turned around the corner and almost bumped into a familiar person.

The one person I was trying to avoid.

"Oh, hey Kenz," Hayden said with a huge smile on his face.

"Asshole," Brynn said while taking my hand and dragging me away from him.

We walked out into the parking lot to find Johnny standing next to Brynns car, waiting for us.

"What are you doing?" Brynn asked as we approached him.

"Just checking in on Kenzie and making sure you're not going out to that dumb party at Jacob's," he said.

His eyes widened as he saw my appearance.

"W-what happened?"
