"the best index to a person's character is how he treats people who can't do him any good, and how he treats people who can't fight back."

THEY YANKED me, taking me from hallway to hallway, from corridor to corridor, confusion sweeping my dreadful thoughts away.

What was going on?

"Everything you need is in the room. Dinner will be served by seven o'clock." A woman spoke, carrying a pile of fresh clothes and placing them on the bed. With a nod of her head, she excused herself and I was left alone.

The room was beyond extravagant; a delightful luxury. The wall was a peach tone that accentuated the golden curves and scribbles. The room smelled like lavender, a scent that I adored since I was a child.

I quickly entered the bathroom. As I emptied my bladder, I checked my face in the mirror. For an instant, I couldn't recognize the person reflected in it. Only when I waved my hand and person waved back that I realized it was me. When had been the last time I'd looked at myself in the mirror? After flushing the toilet and washing my hands, I didn't hesitate stripping myself from my clothing and rushing to shower. There were just so many things that were confusing me and I just needed a break from over-thinking them. I let the water penetrate my oily hair, rinsing it with soap. I used to loofah to rub off the dirt on my body and when I was done, I finally felt fresh and good as new. I had a few bruises, a handful of scars and wounds, but I looked like good old Ocean.

Wrapping my hair in a towel, I walked across the room, but then stopped abruptly in the middle.

An unsettling feeling began welling inside me. There's was something wrong in the room- but I couldn't quite tell what it was. I felt as though I had entered a house with the gas stove left on; the atmosphere was dense and strange, thought apparently invisible to my eyes.

Avalon and Dad weren't here.

To save myself from heartache, I ignored the weird feeling.

I contemplated the bras that were given to me, looking for one that would suit my small bust. I'm not exactly the curviest person in the world. When I finally found one, I put it on and slipped on the fancy underwear given to me. It was a bit too big but at least it was better than nothing. I slipped on the plain dress, which was loose and flowy and surprisingly comfortable.

I brushed my wet hair and decided to put it up in a pony tail, being too lazy to style it or even dry it. I checked the time, and it was 6:40.

Sighing, I sat down and picked at my nails, in hopes of passing time. I was curious. I wanted to know what the hell was happening, and I wanted to know now. I thought of a few questions to ask the commander. I checked the time once again, and it was 6:48. I decided it was a reasonable time and left my room.

After entering fifty different rooms, I finally found the dining room.

A long dining table was prepared, covered with a red table cloth, although I found it amusing that there were only three plates on the table.

"Hello there," the commander greeted.

"Hi," I quietly said and sat down.

"Well you cleaned up," he gave me a smug smile. I nodded and stared at my empty plate. When will they bring the food already?

"Don't worry, your friend will be eating with us. He's just running late, I believe."

"Okay," I bluntly replied.

"So, how are you?"

"Fine."

"I won't bite. Speak up," he scooted his chair closer to me to hear me.

Breathing was difficult to even accomplish, and when I found that I had the ability, it came with tiny rasps and coughs.

He raised an eyebrow and scooted back.

To my luck, Harry came scurrying down and sat on the seat directly infront of me. I shot him a relieved glance, mouthing a thank-you.

"Ah, Harry. I am delighted that you joined us. Your friend was a horrible companion." he smiled at me as I grunted.

"Sassy, but too shy. Interesting."

"Enough with this non sense. What do you want with us?" Harry snapped.

"Ah. So I see you'd prefer I skip the small talk. What I want to know is what you were doing on our territory. I know you're not spies based on the experience earlier, but I'd still like to know."

"We are tornado survivors."

"You mean the biggest tornado in history?"

"Yes."

"Interesting.. are there any others?"

"They're.. dead." he said softly.

"I see."

Tension filled the air, and I grew uncomfortable. To my luck, the food began being brought in.

"Mm," the commander praised as his eyes were focused on the roasted chicken. Everyone began eating, except me of course.

The commander raised an eyebrow.

"Why aren't you eating? You must be starving."

"She's vegetarian," Harry answered for me.

"Oh. They're bringing some other dishes, no worries."

"Thank you," I spoke.

I ate my food slowly, taking small sips of my water. I was pleased when the commander excused himself to go to the bathroom, giving me a chance to talk to Harry.

"Will we ever leave? It's too.. regal for me. Too luxurious." I asked him.

"I honestly don't know. It's still confusing how he went from electrocuting me to feeding me a gourmet dinner."

"About that.. how are you feeling?"

"Better than a few hours ago. I'm on some meds, and got some scars cleaned up. So yes, way better."

"That's good. I'm really sorry,"

"Stop apologizing, Ocean. You didn't do this, they did." Harry softly spoke, his hard gaze fixed on me.

"Did you miss me?" the commander smirked as he walked in.

"No," I mumbled.
