Anxious

Anxiety,
The chronic pain that no one can see.

It ate at her from the inside out.

Sometimes she couldn't function,
when the next panic attack was all she could think about.

Her mind was all at once quiet yet so L

D.

The elephant that sat on her chest
refused to allow her a second to rest.

It barely let her breathe.

It became a recurring nightmare that it wasn't ever going to leave.
When she tried to look around it all she'd see were her
fears-
So many fears.

At this hopeless sight, her eyes would,
inevitably,
well up with tears.

Crying to herself,
she'd plead for a break from her thoughts,
Wondering if this rebellion of her mind would never end,
if this battle always had to be this hard-fought.

So she'd never thought she'd be proud
That she would reach out for help
That she would talk about it
And tell others how she felt.
But she did and although she still struggles
Her brain doesn't feel as muddled.
The pain of the past serves as a constant reminder
Self-care is priority number one
So yes, it is a hard-fought battle
But it is one that she will look back and say she won.
