'Marie, what's the population of this town?' I texted to my online best friend.

'20,000 I think. It's an old, weird, town some person online said.' I sighed and looked around the town of Hemlock Grove, where my family and I just moved.

"Noel, come set up the dinner table!" My mother yelled out. I groaned as I walked back inside to the kitchen, the house looked modern, everything was sleek and fancy looking, the counter was made out of marble while the couches were made of leather. The house reeked the smell of marinated steak, making my stomach growl. I grabbed 4 plates and utensils, and started setting up the glassy dinner table. Once everything was set, I sat on a chair and start cutting up the steak. For once my mother made dinner, I can't lie, she's actually an amazing cook.

"You're hungry already, didn't you just have ice cream cake?" My brother Nolan asked as he came over to sit next to me.

"I guess it's the werewolf gene," I say as I wink at my brother. He shrugged and grabbed my plate of steak.

"Fucking bitch." I mumbled as I grabbed another plate.

"No vulgar language at this table Noel, and Nolan get your own plate," Nolan smiled as he stuffed the steak in his mouth. My mother shook her head and started cutting up her own plate. "So the full moon is tomorrow, Noel can you control your shift?" Every month there's a full moon and werewolves start to shift, but during the full moon, hunters come for wolves, and Upirs come for human blood. I nodded my head anxiously as I stuff some more steak in my mouth. My mother rolled her eyes thinking that I can't fully control it. "I'm tying you up tomorrow even if you think you can control it, other than that both of you guys are starting senior year, hm?"

"A mother that doesn't know what grade we're in, shocking," Nolan says sarcastically. She rolls her eyes and ate some more steak. "The only thing you're good at is dealing drugs and trying to make us become powerful werewolves," He says in a vile tone.

"I'm trying to make you guys become the best of yourselves, defeat every enemy that comes in contact with you," Mother took a sip of wine after she said her little speech and ate some more steak. I rolled my eyes once I noticed my mother completely disregarding the drug dealing comment. "Maybe trust your mother for once and let her help you." Once she announced the statement I slammed my fork down in anger; why did she reckon that I could still trust her, with what she had done?

"Why should I have reliance with my mother who killed my own father?" I asked with such venom. Mother sighed and set her wine down.

"He was a sick Upir Noel, he had to be killed." Mother said it in such a calm manner making me even angrier. I took a breath and calmed myself before I start to shift out of anger. "Anyways, you both come home after school and get yourself down into the basement," She stated. I took a sip of my water and left the dinner table before I started to fire back at my mother, and end up getting slapped. I know I could control my shift, but my hunger was a different story, maybe I could control myself better if she didn't kill my father, my father who could teach a teenager how to control a Upir's hunger.

Here's my first chapter, might even upload the second chapter in a few hours or maybe tomorrow!!
