"hey eleanor, hold up!" stanley called out as the young girl walked home. "we're going down to the quarry tomorrow to swim, wanna join us?" he inquired, voice cracking and everything. she would love to join them in this heat, but that would make them think they're friends and that's something she didn't want.. however,  the words had spilled from her mouth.

"i'll think about, okay?" she replied unsure if she came off rude or something. "i'll see you around then," he smiled softly before taking a turn onto his street. eleanor kicked the stones on the pavement in disappointment that she had said that. 'you should've just said no,' she thought.

finally, the short girl arrived at her house, the silence consuming her as per usual and she kicked her shoes off before heading upstairs and placing down her school bag. "you made friends, didn't you?" her mother's soft voice pulled her from her thoughts. "what? no? why would i make friends after what happened last time?"

"not everyone is going to be like those imbeciles, dear," karen told her daughter as she took a seat on the soft bed. "it won't hurt to have friends, you know?" she queried and the younger girl sighed. "i know ma, i'm just scared that once i get attached something bad will happen," eleanor answered sitting beside the tired looking woman.

"you can always come to me if something bad happens or if you're upset, especially if it's about your sister," her mother smiled sadly wrapping an arm around the blue-eyed beauty and pulling her into a hug. "your dad will be home soon, wanna help me make dinner?" she asked earning a nod in response, "we'll make your favourite."

"sounds great, i'll be down to help in a few minutes," eleanor said as she pulled away from the hug. "okay dear, don't be too long," karen smiled before exiting the room. the framed picture sat on her vanity, staring at the girl with the jet black hair, taunting her in a way.

she slipped off her comfortable bed and put the photo face down, praying that if she made friends with this group that things would be different and nothing bad would happen. obviously she was unaware of the nightmare her life was about to become. the nightmare all of their lives were about to become, all because of a stupid people-eating clown.

they had no idea what was in store for them, no idea at all...
