far from lovely
"what are you going to do about it?" henry bowers asked, holding the walkman and headphones above his head. eleanor gave him a glare before kicking him in the family jewels, causing him to drop her prized possessions. she scrambled to pick them up as the other two surrounded her, making a dash for it and getting on her bike.
"i told you not to fuck with me!" she called out as she began riding away from the diner. the dark-haired girl focusing on getting to school, where they couldn't hurt her without getting caught. "dumbasses," she muttered as she saw her destination coming into view.
quickly, she got off her bicycle and locked it up before placing her white headphones on her head and playing her favourite mixtape as she walked into the school. it had been two months since the death of her sister, yet people still gave her looks of pity. this made the quiet girl glad it was the last day of school, prepared for the summer where she could hide in her room and drown in her sorrows.
eleanor rushed into the school, slinging her worn down backpack over her shoulder and going to her locker. that group of boys standing there like usual. this became her usual routine: run into a gang of bullies at the diner, rush to school, go to her locker and feel the intense stares of four boys as she waited for the bell to go. however, today she thought she would say something.
"you know, if you take a picture it'll last longer?" she snickered and kept her back to them, removing her headphones and hearing them mutter some words. "i'll gladly take a picture, gives me something to add to my spank bank."
the comment threw her off and she whipped around, seeing three of them glare at the boy with the glasses. "you're disgusting," she scoffed and turned back around. this was going to be one hell of a day, she thought.
eventually, the final bell had rung and she quickly arose from her seat and packed her stuff up. "eleanor! i just wanna have a word with you for a second," her history teacher smiled as everyone began exiting the classroom. "i understand you've been researching the past of our lovely town, an..."
"not to be rude or anything ma'am... but this town is far from lovely," the young girl interrupted, leaving her history teacher with wide eyes and a gaping mouth. she gave a final goodbye and exited the classroom, slipping her headphones back onto her head and making her way out of the stupid school. she would attempt to not run into the bowers gang. although, life had a different plan as she saw the big bad bullies tormenting the four boys that always stared at her.
"bowers, i would tell you to stop what you're doing.. but it'd be funny to see you get arrested by that police officer!" eleanor remarked as she got on her bicycle and nodded to the higher authority that was watching the scene unfold. she gave a nod to the group of outcasts before riding off.
you'd expect her to be going home, but that was far from the place she was heading to. the blue-eyed girl was heading to the barrens, a place that was connected to the sewer systems. the reason as to why she was heading there was simple, she wanted answers.. and oh boy, answers she would get.
