Celeste's POV :

Filch is such an ass. I know it must be hard for him being a squib and all but he is an ass.

As soon as I got to detention, I saw a bunch of dirty cauldrons on the table, Black , malfoy, Lockhart and Andromeda, also had detention.

" alright, you'll be cleaning these, but instead of using your wands, you'll be using... These." filch said, holding four toothbrushes.

"now, give me your wands, after you finish your detention, then you little pesks can have it back, I Want to see these cauldrons spottless." he said, snatching our wands from our hands.

" Ms Norris will keep an eye on you." she snarled before leaving.

I sighed loudly Before collapsing on one of the chairs. Black sat down across the room and Andromeda took one of the cauldrons and started doing the task without a fuss. Lockhart was awkwardly standing in the corner of the room and malfoy was looking at the toothbrush as if it had spoke.

" alright, let's get this over with. " I said and gabbed a cauldron quite harshly. I held the toothbrush tightly and started aggressively cleaning the cauldron. I imagined different ways of murdering malfoy in my head. I hadn't realised that my hair was an angry, blood red colour.

Malfoy aand Lockhart started doing the detention task as well and slowly, black did too. 

The silence was broken when when black decided to speak.
" So, my favorite cousin, what did you do to get in here?"

he said in his all too abnoxious voice that made me scrub the cauldron Harder.

"I was out after curfew. You?" andromeda asked, her voice wasn't coated In authority and rudeness like other slytherins, which was why I tolerated her more.

" pranked filch. " he shrugged.

" pranking? Honestly?" Andromeda asked.

" what? Onyx did it too!"

" but that's not why she got detention, oh, congratulations on winning the duel by the way onyx." she said smiling.

" she did not win!" malfoy yelled.

" please, you only managed to send one spell my way." I smirked.

" piss off onyx." he spat.

" shut it malfoy."

" why is Lockhart here?" Black said breaking to silence yet again.

" i-i destroyed half the classes books trying to get a spell right." at this I chuckled, " How are you in ravenclaw?" Andromeda asked.

I was so thankful when filch came back and ended our detention, Black was starting to on my nerves.

Lily, Alice, Molly an I were eating breakfast at the moment and I was waiting for Black to take a sip of his drink,  since he kept making annoying and stupid comments,  why not give him a reason to keep his mouth shut?

I had a love of pranks and have done a few around the school ( a lot at home) But, the marauders were the prank Kings. We were almost two months in our first year and I bet they've already played around a hundred pranks, mainly on filch. I guess that's why peeves had taken a liking to us.

Finally, I watched as Black took a long gulp of his pumpkin juice, and his nose crinkled up in disgust.

" Oi! What's wrong with my pumpkin juice?" but as he spoke, you could see his bright green tongue and teeth. Potter snorted and Remus looked him in shock, petigrew fell of his seat in a fit of laughter.

" why are you laughing?"
"Black, here." lily said, giggling. She had handed him a mirror.

" I know I'm Handsome Evans, you don't need to, wait - WHAT'S WRONG WITH MY MOUTH??" he yelled.

Lily gave me a knowing look and I smirked, which black caught.

" Alright, you've just started a war, onyx. A prank war. "

" alright, I'm sorry but I really can't take you seriously right now, Black."

" What? " I asked the marauders as there looked at me, all of them had a mischievous glint in their eyes apart from Black, who was smirking.

" Can you stop that, It's really creeping me out." I said suspiciously.

I walked quickly to transfiguration class, escaping them because I'd rather come early to class then feel their wrath. Well, pranks.

" Ms Onyx? Your quite early." professor mcGonagall acknowledged.

" You see professor, I want to ask a question, out of curiosity of course."

" ask away." she said. " I was wondering, how does one become an animagus such as yourself?"

Her eyebrows rose in surprise, clearly nor expecting the words that left my mouth.

"out of curiosity."

"very well then, to start, the wizard has to hold a mandrake leaf in their mouth for a full month. As in, they can't take it out to eat or sleep or anything. If it comes out of their mouth or slips down the hatch, they have to start over.
Then, at the next visible full moon, the wizard must put their spit-soaked leaf in a phial within range of the moon's pure rays. If the moon's hiding behind clouds or something where it's not directly visible, they have to start over with another month of mandrake leaf sucking."

" it was a pain trying to do it you see, but if you do it right, and are able to talk with a mandrake in your mouth, them it shouldn't be too hard. "

I nodded, understanding. " this is just out of curiosity?" I nodded again and sat I'm my seat.

Students ststated filling in and I froze in my seat realizing something I shoud've remembered

Black was my partner.
