I actually enjoyed myself this night with Cameron, he was such a gentleman and it was nice of him to dance with me. There wasn't nothing extra or exchanged between us, just dancing and a few photos. And he got crowned homecoming king, which was great for him.
Once Rham and I got home...along with Miles because he just invited himself to stay with the two of us tonight, we watched a few movies because we couldn't sleep.
Deck never called so I just sent a text letting her know I made it home. Maybe she's asleep. I did get inside at 1pm, way pass the time expected.
3 days later...
"So you still haven't heard from her," Rham questions as she slurps her slurpie. I nod and eat my laffy taffy. We're just walking through the mall. Rham wanted a dress for our graduation tomorrow and so far we've been to 3 stores and she has picked nothing.
"Do you know why she hasn't contacted you," she questions while pulling me into yet another store.
"Honestly Rham, I don't want to talk about Deck, okay?" She frowns disappointedly and nods slowly. We have been on the topic of Deck for awhile now. We've discussed Deck more than we discussed drama. It's getting old because I can think about is what I actually did to make her stop texting me. I mean—I don't mean to come off clingy, but I know people, who you find great interest in, don't go days without texting each other. I've been constantly overthinking to where I just settled with a solution and stuck with it, and that solution is that she realized I didn't meet the requirements to be her girlfriend. Sadly, it's what I've come up with.
"So you disappeared at prom, I forgot all about it. Where'd you go?" I question while smirking deviously.
"No, I stayed by your side that entire night," she says as she ignores my eyes and pretends to look through a rack of dresses, but I know she knows I'm onto her.
"No, not really, towards the end of the night you disappeared, and I know you know because that's why Cameron approached me, I was all alone," I clarify. She looks back at me and puts her finger against her mouth to think further into it.
"I went to the washroom," she shrugs and I stare deeply at her with an amused facial expression.
"For 30-45 minutes? Either that applesauce you had earlier that day took a wrong turn or you hooked up with Fin!" I screech, teasing her.
"What, how did you--"
"When you run out of prom for a hook up, please take your phone or your nosy friend reads your "I'm out front" text," I say and she burst into fits of laughter as she hides her face embarrassingly.
"I'll take note of that," she giggles.
"So are you two a thing again?" I questions as I squeeze past a woman annoyedly yelling into her phone about something. I play with the beads I randomly picked up from a jewelry rack.
"Oh no, that was the last time for that. I'm trying to start something new, ya know. Fin and I have been on and off for awhile and I'm kinda tired," she shrugs and continues her searching through the rack. Her and her boyfriend have been on and off since mid year of her junior year. He's 4 years older than her and has been graduated and now is in college but he's back in town which gives her nothing but opportunity to see him. I feel like it's my relationship also since I have been there through the entire painful terror.
I think that's why I avoided relationships and I think that's why Cameron and I didn't work out. I feared the whole relationship thing and Rham and her relationship truly made me understand that.
