I text Gale telling him that I can't make it tonight because of the wonderful Lissa. He texts me back saying that I have to sneak out and that he'll meet me eleven o'clock.

I've never sneaked out before and I don't really feel like doing it, but I don't have a choice. And who cares if I get caught? That's right, no one.

I hear a knock at the door, but I don't move.

"Katniss, can you please open the door?" A voice, that belongs to Peeta, asks.

I give up and open the door after half a minute or so, because I know that he is still standing there.

"What?" I hiss opening the door.

"Can I come in?"

"No." I say and slam the door shut.

I walk over to my turntable and turn it on before I fall asleep to the melancholy melodies by Radiohead.

*

I wake up by my aunt-in-law's piercing voice yelling mine and Peeta's names.

I wait a long time before I tow myself downstairs, basically just to get on her nerves.

"As both of you know Lissa and I will leave tomorrow morning for our honeymoon." Christian says after I sat down.

"When will you get back?" Peeta asks.

"A month, but I am sure that you and Katniss will get a long so very well." Lissa answers.

I roll my eyes as I take a bite from the steak.

"We would also like to address that Peeta will be in charge of the money and everything else." Lissa says, smiling at Peeta.

"Why can't I be in charge?" I ask.

"Do not be silly Katniss."

"I'm not silly, I asked a question!" I say louder. "You don't trust me do you?"

Christian and Lissa looks at each other without answering.

"It is not that we do not trust you, it is just-"

"Just save it." I cut, taking the dinner plate in my hand and walk to the kitchen.

Nothing, says a voice in my head. I have nothing.

I ignore it like my therapist used to tell me to. I always ignore it. I cover it up by making an 'impolite' move as they call it, just like I did now by leaving before the dinner was declared done. Alcohol and partying also makes the thought fade away even though I know the voice it my head is right. But it helps, it really does. It covers up all the empty holes in my heart and that is everything I can ask for.

"Katniss come back here!" Lissa calls, but of course I don't obey.

I walk up to my room with firm steps.

I lock the door, turn back on the music that was playing before dinner and wait for 11 o'clock to come.

I close my eyes and slowly fall asleep.

I often fall asleep during day time. The nights are always haunted by gruesome nightmares that make me wake up at the middle of the night screaming after my parents. Pictures of them in the car bloody and calling for help while I am stuck in the backseat, like I was at that time, unable to do anything.

*

I wake up by feeling my phone buzz in my back pocket.

It's a text from Gale, telling me that he'll pick me up in about an hour, which means that I have to go downstairs and tell Lissa and Christian that I'll go to bed so that they won't check on me while I'm sneeking out.

I do so, and they seem rather suprised because I usually never go to bed that early, but they don't get suspicious.

It's still weird that that Peeta guy is staying with us, or with me, while they are away. Like who flies someone all the way from New Orleans just to "look after me" while they are on their stupid honeymoon that lasts for a hole month. But I'm not going to sad about it. I mean a hole month without Lissa's spoiled attitude, complaining about everything I do. And a few parties in the house won't kill either, I just have to stop being so embarrassed about where I live.

I make it look like I am sleeping in my bed by putting pillows under the covers. I wait for about an hour before put on a simple layer of mascara onto my lashes. I don't usually put any make up on, it's just materialistic and unnecessary like everything else in this house, but something about being with Gale makes me.

After I'm done prettifying myself I put on a jacket and grab my purse before I open the window and jump down to the not-so-steep roof that is only a meter down from my window.

It's pretty chilly for being June, but summer isn't that warm here in Panem at least not in June.

I crawl down the wall flower holder, that works like a ladder.

Gale's car is parked a few blocks away, so that they won't catch us.

"Hey babe," Gale says as I settle in the front seat. His dark hair is hair jelled back of his forehead, and he is wearing a white v-neck tee and black pants. "Did you bring the beverages?"

"Sure," I say as he leans in and kisses me. His lips are warm and wet and taste like cigarettes like they always do.

He breaks the kiss after a few seconds, and starts the engine.

It's not a very long way to Cato's house where the party is held. His house is on the other side of the city, but the city we live in is not very big so it's only twenty minutes until we arrive.

The loud music that comes from the house is so loud that we could hear it many meters away.

Gale parks the car and we disapear into the crowd of mostly drunk seniors.
