Amelie's POV

I can't help but simply look around confused as a group of nurses and doctors rush inside the—to me—unknown room. They gather around the bed I am laying on, Jim standing behind, utterly observing each and every move they make with tears in his eyes.

"Can you tell me your name, m'am?" asks a doctor, as he presses a stethoscope against my chest.

"Yes, it's Amelie, Amelie Parsons."

"The date of your wedding?"

"Umm....December 23rd," I reply, still a little confused about all the unexpected questions, and as resident points a small lantern directly to my eyes.

The doctor removes the stethoscope from my chest, neatly wraps it around his neck and addresses one of the other residents besides him, "order an MRI, a head CT, and some blood tests, please," he says, and starts towards Jim as some of the nurses examine me and others adjust the medication.

"So—"

"She's fine," says the doctor with a smile, gently interrupting Jim. "Until now, she shows no permanent damages. I ordered several tests already just to be sure, but overall...I'm pretty sure your wife will be okay. Congratulations," he finishes, and pats Jim on the arm after he offers a sincere and wide smile, and exits the room.

As the nurses finish their job, they leave the room as well after they smile at both Jim and I.

I still don't understand what is going on, but I can't deny that as I look at my husband beaming at me with tears in his eyes, I am lost for words.

"Amelie," he starts, walking towards me and taking my hand.

"Jim, what....what happened? I don't understand."

My husband expression changes. His smile fades away a little bit, and his grip on my hand tightens, as he slowly kneels down to level his face with mine. "You don't really remember what happened?"

I shake my head. "All I remember is Colin kidnapping me, you coming to get me, but after that....I simply blacked out...What happened?"

Jim sighs, concentrating his eyes on the ground. "Ams...this isn't really very easy to say but...."

"What?" I say with a little rush and desperation.

"You have been on....." Jim sighs. "A coma for three years."

Everything becomes silent. My ears can't even believe what he is saying. That's not...it's not....possible. How could that happen?! How in this world could I miss three entire years with my husband?! And then....what about everything I lived?! What about our memories, what about Colin, what about our child...simply....what about it all?

I take in a sharp breath, shaking my head rapidly from side to side. "But...but then.....nothing ever happened?"

"What...do you mean?" he asks, staring at me confused.

"The memories...our memories. We...we never lost our memories?"

"What?" says Jim, completely bewildered. "Absolutely not."

"And and...I didn't die?"

"NOOO! No no thank God! You just fell in a coma, that's it," he says, gently caressing my head. "You have been in a coma ever since Colin kidnapped you and you fell unconscious."

I take in another breath, trying to process all that's going on, and trying to hold the tears back. "So then....it was all in my head?"

Jim nods, placing a small kiss on my small hand. "I guess it was."
