The Test

Before the testing, and before school there I was. Standing in my bathroom mirror, staring at myself. FEAR. It controlled this, all of this. This time it wasn't in my head. This time I was right.....I think. 

I step back from the mirror, and open the medicine cabinet. Revealing all of my anxiety antidepressants. I sigh for a moment before grabbing them out, pouring myself a glass of water, and preparing to take them. But, like last time, I'm hesitant...and I place them back into the cabinet. I haven't been taking them...ever since the night on the lacrosse field....

So, I go to school. Ready to test out the supernaturals at the high school. Gabe said to "puncture the top of the hand". Truthfully, this was getting dense.

When I arrived at school, they'd already started. Gabe, and Aaron had already started testing people....By the time I had got their, most were bandaged up. I felt disconnected from this....I didn't think this is how it'd be. Instead of tell this to Gabe, I just start testing. For a moment I thought there'd be a line of people, uniformed. But, that was not the case. 

                                                                         Later on that day

I've tested a lot so far. Most were willing, and the ones who weren't....Well I let them go. Even though the thing with Liam blew up, it was different....Some of these people were scared, and even though I'm a sophmore..some were so young. It didn't feel right to force something like this, but it had to be done....

So, when Gabe, Aaron, or one of their friends checked in with me I lied....I didn't think much of it. It was until we were all together, that I knew I had messed up.

"Hey look it's Beth." One of Gabe's friends calls out. We all chuckle, and laugh at the strange girl that most know for being an outsider and strange after an incident. She now stays to herself, but before she was the popular chick who was dumped from a lacrosse guy. Then she turned into a wailer, and burst out into humming spells, or would have "panics" in schools.....

I ran into her today...she was suppose to get tested...I told Gabe I tested her. But, when I tried she started to cry, and wail. Coach was nearby at the time too, so I left it alone....But now.

"Hey, Nolan....I thought you said you tested Beth?" Gabe says to me, which wakes me from my trembling thoughts. 

"Right-I-i couldn't." I say, gulping heavily because I choke on my words. 

"Why?" Gabes asked, and his buddies turn to me. 

"Well, she started crying....she didn't want it done." I tell Gabe, but Aaron interrupts me. 

"You don't ask, you do." He says, and Gabes nods. I panic, and quickly think of something.

"I-I know. Coach was there....And he basically kicked our asses last time.  Just imagined if he would've seen..." I prepare to say, but they only stare, right at me...silently. 

"Well, do it now. He left for lunch anyways." They say, and I nod, wanting to say no. 

But, I don't and instead soon start to approach Beth. 

But, she sees me, and soon makes a run for it. I stop for a moment, and turn to the boys, and as expected they were watching. I sigh, and run after her. 

"Beth!" I yell to her, but she ignores me, and runs straight to the girls bathroom.
