Disaster

In an instant it happened. I had already gotten out of the truck, and stood outside of Scott Mccall's house. Gabe stood by my side, proud. We weren't in synced. I wasn't proud, I was panicked. Someone was going to get hurt, and deep down I was hoping that it was us....But. it wasn't deep down.

"Nolan, are you ready?" Asked a pumped Gabe. I shake from my thoughts, and look up at gabe.

"I-Is there another way? S-someone could die." I say, and Gabe and the hunters laugh. 

"They better, we stole ammo from the armory." He says, and my stomach drops. Not another thing I'm tied in to. I shake my head, and look down. 

A few seconds goes by, and I hear a hunter go into the trunk of the car and grab out.

"You have gu-" I prepare to say, but Gabe covers my mouth.

"Are you trying to blow our cover?" Asked a now annoyed Gabe.

"What the hell is wrong with this kid?" Asks a hunter. Gabe looks at the hunter, then down at me almost ashamed.

"Nolan, you wanted this. You wanted to see them fall. You wanted this." He says, and I jump. 

"Some of those people in there, they aren't supernatural. Some are human-like us." I say.  Gabe straightens his face.,

"I don't care. They are traitors!" He says.

"Scott's pack. Have they ever killed one of us, have they ever?!?" I ask Gabe, and he gets fed up.

"I don't give a damn Nolan. They are against us, and this is war!! there are always casualties... Just pray you're on the winning side so you don't get wiped out. Now....are you on our side?" He asks me. I can hear them setting up there guns while they set off emitters. In fear, I lie and say "yes"

"Get ready guys." Says gabe.

He begins to count down and when he reaches 2, I reach for the automatic yelling "No!". But one of the hunters knock me out with their guns, sending me on the ground.

"What the fuck?!!!" Yells Gabe. I grab onto the grass, trying to steady myself hoping I had a chance to stop them, but I was too late.

The automatic goes off, and bullet cases fall onto my back, as I lay there paralyzed by fear. I feel tears fall down my face as I hear screams fill Scott's house. 

What have I done?

A few seconds go by when the hunters get knocked onto ground, causing the automatics to stop. Then I hear a roar: it was Theo. He knocks Gabe onto the ground as well, and steps over me as I shiver on the ground.

Theo rushes inside, and when I know he's gone I get up, but not fast enough. The hunters had already driven off, leaving both Gabe and I stranded.

As soon as I get up, a frustrated Gabe gets up and follows me. We try and hide between some houses, but Gabe couldn't keep in his anger.

"Are you fucking kidding me?! We almost had them! What happened to you?!" He yells at me!

"What happened to me?! What happened to you?! You're kissing hunter asses, and killing humans?!" I yell back to him.

"Not too long ago you killed your own friends! So don't you talk to me about change. I get that you're messed up nolan, but understand that you aren't innocent either!" He says, preparing to walk off.

"What are you talking about? What friends did I kill?!" I stutter and panic with fear. Have I taken a life?

"Tierney and Jiang." He says and I freeze. 

"It was your idea to trap them inside the sheriff station. YOU kissed Monroe ass to get inside and take them out!" He yelled.

"I didn't take them out! They made a deal-with an agent and fled! They got away Gabe!!!! I don't murder my friends-our friends! Jiang was our friend, and you and Tierney were close before all of this!" I yelled. Gbe yells before punching my already bloody face.

"Then you must not know.....See, they did make a deal, but we made one too." He says, and my bloody face stares at him saddenmed.

"They're dead. Before we fled our hunter darted them, right here."He says before pressing his thumb in between my eyebrow, then follows to impersonate a gun sound. I scream in anger and punch him in the face, sending him to the ground. He chuckles, struggling to get up.

"See, it was your fault. It was your plan Nolan....but be happy, at least it was carried out." He finally stands up, and spits blood from his mouth onto the ground. For a moment I think he's going to charge at me, but a howl causes him to stop in his tracks.

"I'm getting out of here before you switch sides, and get me killed." I prepare to say something to him, but he nudges me as he leaves.

A couple minutes pass, and I think I hear Theo approaching, so I come out of hiding. But it wasn't Theo.

"Beth?!" I say. For a moment I'm startled by it, however soon after I approach to give her a hug. But, when I step forward, she steps back. 

"Are they really dead." She asks. Beth didn't need to say anything else, I knew. And she had heard everything. I don't have to answer her, my body language gives it away. I look down ashamed. 

She catches on, and weeps, swatting on the floor, broken. 

"They're Dead." She struggles to get those words out. I ball my fist, and exhale. 

"I'm sorry. I-I didn't know." I say to her. She slowly gets up, preparing to leave. 

Alarmed, I follow her. But, Theo appears, scared.

"Was I too late?!" I asked deeply concerned. Theo looks down, which worries me. 

"Scott's mom....She was shot." He says, struggling to keep it together, forcely trying to hide his pain. I hear Beth huff, and I look over to her. She has her back to me, to us.

"Beth-" I prepare to comfort her, but she goes in for a punch?

"You lied to me!" She screams with anger, but I also feel the sadness in her voice. I ache. I fall to the ground, and look up at a now distraught Beth. The Beth that I didn't know.

She kept wailing, and sent painful punches, they weren't human. She sends half a dozen, before Theo pulls her off of me. He even struggled to get her to stop. But when she did, I still lay there on the ground. Accepting.

That this was all MY FAULT.

I hear both Beth, and Theo walk off, as I lay in an abandoned backyard with only the moon to comfort me.
