Chapter 11

*************

Do you know that moment when you are hiding then all of a sudden you desperately need to pee? Yeah, that’s how I was feeling now, cramped up with Kimberly next to me, in such a small closet. Kimberly was silently giggling whilst I tried to hold in my pee. Anytime now Mr Page would open this closet door and Kimberly and I would be basted.

It all started off with Kimberly and I casually walking down the school corridor whilst everyone was in class. Since it is my 16th birthday, Kimberly wanted me to feel how it feels like being 16, so that’s why we were skipping class. Kimberly then came up with a brilliant idea, ‘Knock down ginger’. I agreed with her plan, so we went knocking on classroom doors and then running away. Until we got to Mr Page’s door. It was my turn to knock, but instead of knocking, I drummed against the door whilst singing ‘Pump up the jam’. I was too busy enjoying myself that I forgot that I had to run. Kimberly was standing next to me clutching her sides as tears fell down her face with laughter. I kept on drumming against the door until I came face to face with Mr Page. I stopped drumming and looked at Mr Page like he was a ghost. Next thing I knew, Kimberly and I were running down the corridor whilst Mr Page shouted after us. I was sure he was following us. All of a sudden Kimberly ran into an empty classroom and into the closet, and I followed her. Now that’s why we are in this crumped up closet, hiding.

*********

“Nicole Williams do you think this is a joke?” My mom scolded whilst I sat on the chair in the kitchen eating bacon.

So Mr Paige had caught us hiding and he had sent us to the principal’s office. It turns out all the other teachers knew it was us knocking on their doors. The principal called our parents and we now have a week’s worth of detention. Sadly my mom does not like the principal calling so here she was scolding me off.

“No mother dear, I do not think this is a joke. I apologise for my irresponsible behaviour. I shall not do it again mother. I sincerely promise” I joked trying to be posh. My mom squinted her eyes at me. She always did that when she was really angry or annoyed.

“How dare you take this as a joke? I mean yes it is your birthday but what you did at school today was not responsible, you hear me! Who in their right mind goes around playing knock down ginger in school whilst singing ‘Pump up the jam’?  I’m so disappointed in you right now.” She paused with her arms crossed. “I think I will have to cancel your party.”

When those last words came out of her mouth I jumped out of my sit and quickly went up to her with a pleading look on my face. Now I was taking what she said seriously. How could she be so evil?

“Hell to the no! Mom please you can’t do this to me. People have already planned out their outfits. How can I call them now and tell them ‘sorry guys, there is no party tonight’. Mom please I beg you, don’t do this to me. I will do anything, but please don’t cancel the party. Besides ‘you’re only 16 once’.” I begged whilst pouting.

A flash of guilt filled mom’s face and I silently hoped she would change her mind.

“Okay, okay, I won’t cancel the party” she said and I fist pumped the air. “But you are not getting a car.”  I froze. Was this woman crazy or what?

“Really mom, just really, why would you do this to me, your only daughter?” I disappointedly asked.

“Keep talking and the party is off too.” She said causing me to shut my mouth. “Good now hurry up your guests will be arriving in less than an hour, your dad and I are leaving in 5 minutes. Be responsible and don’t trash the house. This is your chance for you to show us that we can trust you and that you are a responsible wolf.”
