Chapter 8
-----
On the day of Kimberly’s party it had taken a whole hour to get Brandon to leave the party. He kept on trying to say how much he had changed and how much he wanted to make things between us better but I was not going to fall for that act. He was a jerk that deserved to burn in hell. No girl or woman in the world should ever be treated like how he did 2years ago. It has been a week since the party and I haven’t seen Brandon anywhere so Jordan and I have dropped the whole boyfriend and girlfriend act and he obviously has gone back to his player ways. No matter how much I tried, I couldn’t stop thinking about that whole different side of Jordan I had seen a couple of days ago. I didn’t think he had it in him to be such a nice person but then again maybe it was just an act.
“Nicole someone is here to see you!” My mom called from downstairs. At first I thought it was probably Kimberly but I knew that if Kimberly came to my house she would come straight to my bedroom. Maybe it was probably one my friends from school. I quickly put my chocolate brown hair into a messy bun and fixed my black sweats and my white tank top before going downstairs. Whoever was here would have to accept the fact that I was in my own house so I was allowed to dress like this.
“Natalie?” I said but it came out as a question. Natalie was standing at the end of the stairs wearing grey skinny jeans, a blue tee and Nike sneakers and she had a little just do it bag on her back.
“Hey Nicole, sorry for not calling oh wait I don’t have your number, but anyway I was wondering if you wanted to go shopping with me because all my friends are busy and Jordan went off with some girls and I don’t really speak to Kimberly. You don’t have to come if you don’t want to” Natalie said in one breath.
“Aw Natalie sure I will go shopping with you but first I need to go change, wait here I won’t be long” I said as I rushed upstairs to change. I took off my sweats and put on my blue shorts and left my tank top on. I grabbed my vans then heading downstairs where Natalie and my mom were talking and laughing about something one of them had said.
Since I couldn’t drive yet, I asked mom to drop us off at the mall. It was quite busy today and we saw loads of people from school. Natalie was actually a load of fun and we talked a lot and joked around. I learnt that she is a bubbly person who got along with a lot of people and she could play the piano.
“Your mom is really nice” Natalie said as we sat in a coffee shop at the mall.
“Hmm catch her on a bad day and I think you will change your mind about her, I bet your mom is nice” I said as I took a sip of my coffee. Natalie stiffened, starring at her coffee, her eyes not meeting mine.
“Ah erm, oh look there is that Brandon guy” She quickly changed the subject and this time it was my turn to stiffen. What was Brandon doing here? I thought he had probably gone back to Massachusetts. I did not want to see him here and besides I had no backup except for Natalie who probably would just sit there sipping her coffee and not getting involved. Before I could think of a plan to get us out of that place I felt someone’s breathing on my neck.
“We meet again sexy” Brandon said and then took a sit beside me.
“Go away?” I said but it came out as a question. This seemed to amuse him because he chuckled and Natalie and I just looked at him like he was crazy because there was nothing funny about someone telling you to go away.
