They think I'm crazy, but they don't know the feelings. They're all around me, circling like vultures. They want to break me and wash away my colors.
My Demons, Starset
Roman's POV
I tried to forget about Dimitri, I really did. If he wants to act like a five year old, then let him! Since he obviously can't own up to the responsibility of being and adult.
But no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't keep him from popping into my thoughts when I least expected it.
Even during my classes, as I learned about different photographic techniques that intrigued me to no end, I was worried about Dimitri.
'He looked so tired.' My brain would whisper. 'Did you see his knuckles? What if he got in a fight?'
'Shut up'. I told my brain. Spoiler alert: It didn't work.
I decided to take my mind off of Dimitri by texting Jason. He had written in an elegant, loopy handwriting, even signing his name- Jason Covallo.
I put his phone number into my contacts and texted a quick "Hey, this is Roman".
When my last class before lunch was let out, I walked back to my dorm room to put away my textbook.
Almon was sitting on the bed, studying, although his eyes were closed and his head was tilted back. I tried not to laugh.
"Almond!" I shouted, clapping my hands. He jumped up, looking around, confused. When he realized what had happened, he mumbled something and fixed his glasses.
"I'd invite you to lunch, but I wouldn't want you to have to spend too much time with me," I joked. Alton froze for a moment and messed with his glasses.
"Um, I can't make it to the concert." He announced, sounding a little guilty. "Something came up, and I need to help out a friend."
"Oh." I frowned, disappointed. "That sucks. Do you need my help? I mean, if it's that bad I can stay and help-"
"No, it's fine!" Alton interrupted hastily. "Thank you for offering, though. I asked someone to go in my place, though, so-"
"Who?" I questioned, praying to whatever supernatural beings that existed that it wasn't who I thought.
"Dimitri." Alton answered. I groaned, falling back on my bed. "What happened between you guys?"
"Oh, you know, just him acting like a jerk." I muttered, holding my tongue and resisting using some stronger words.
"Are you still mad about him leaving?" Alton asked, raising an eyebrow. I didn't answer.
"You should know that he does that sometimes." Alton sighed. "I'd tell you why, but he wouldn't talk to me for a week, at the least."
"You keep on saying that he does that sometimes, but you never say why!" I shouted, crossing my arms angrily. "It's not fair."
"Not fair?" Almon stood up, looking more angry then I'd ever seen him. "Try asking Dimitri what's 'not fair'! I can promise you that he never wanted to hurt anyone, but he didn't get to choose what happened to him! I didn't get to choose to have him as a brother!"
Almon paused, and for a moment I thought I saw tears in his eyes. Then he muttered something about getting to class, and rushed out, slamming the door behind him.
I sighed, sitting on my bed. I had lost my appetite.

I was not anxious for the concert that night, but I wasn't passing up a chance to see one of my favorite bands performing live.
