Elena Gilbert moves to Toronto to a new job in HopeZion Hospital, a year or so after Stefan, her husband, died.
There she will meet a fellow surgeon Joel Goran and starts having feelings...
A little before the flashforward from the previous chapter
Elena's apartment early in the morning
"New York was good."- Elena said to her friend Bonnie-"I wish you could have come."
"No can do. Have to keep this Vampire Central under control."- her Bonnie replied.
"Did you hear from Damon?"- Elena now asked.
"No. He is not answering any of my calls."- the witch said.
"So there are no bloody trailers?"- Elena referred to Damon, who was very unstable after his brother's death, and they had a hard time keeping him on track.
"Alaric has promised to keep an eye on him."- Bonnie replied-"Ok. Now I want to hear gossip. Tell me you will have fun today, and that you will not work all day long on your birthday."
Elena sighed a little and then said-
"Well, I - ok- I - well, I started to have feelings- for this guy. Actually, there is two of them. And- it just- oh, it feels like- it is all so- then I feel so bad, because I have these feelings, because- it's like I am betraying Stefan-"
"Elena, you have to get out of this. The whole reason of moving away was that you get on with your life. It's been nearly two years now, and it's ok to - go on. He would want you to move on."
"I know. He said so once. Before he went to deal with Silas"
Little flashback
"If I don't make it back from this, I want you to promise me that you will your life to the fullest, that you will move on."
"No, Stefan, I can' t do that- no!!!"

Elena shook with her head now clutching onto her husband.

She never thought that one day she would be in the that situation. That she will be moving on.
"I thought after everything we've been through that - we will have our life, that we- Oh, I am so messed up, this is so not right-"- Elena said-"I really don't know- what to do"
"Go for it, Elena. It is good that you started to have feelings and- yeah- Just - get out there. Date. And - live again. You've like through Hell and back ten thousand times."- Bonnie said.
"Literally."- Elena said.
"Exactly, so- it's ok to love again. "
"Yeah, I guess."
And she got dressed, and went to work. This was going to be a day that she will - go on. Move on.
