Angel's POV

"This stakeout is killing me." Adam Ruzek groaned.

I looked at Antonio and Voight and we all rolled our eyes at the rookie.

"You can always quit Intelligence and join patrol." I told him, earning a chuckle from Voight.

"I'll shut up." Adam said, picking up his binoculars and looking through them once again.

We were on the lookout for a guy named Adrian Golpo, who was convicted of kidnapping, raping, and murdering a senators daughter. It hit close to home for us and pissed us all off. Hank and I already had plans to take him to the silos when we caught him.

Hank and I were a lot alike: tough, doesn't take shit from nobody, and earned our way to where we are. He and I clicked and he treats me like he treated Erin: a daughter. Then Erin moved away and it was just Hank and me in Chicago.

Our walkie-talkies made noise and Hank picked it up, hearing Alvin Olinsky's voice come through. "Golpo and a couple of his buddies just entered the bar on the west side of the street."

Olinsky and Halstead were on the street watching and we were all on the roof of a building, which happened to be beside the bar Al was talking about.

"Let's hit it." Hank said, all 4 of us getting up and heading down the fire escape.

We entered the bar and Golpo immediately recognized us and ran. So did his buddies. Ruzek and I took after Golpo and Hank and Antonio went after the friends.

We were getting closer to Golpo when Adam leapt and tackled him, bringing him down. As I watched him put cuffs on the guy, I suddenly felt a pain in my back and I fell to the ground. I'd been shot.

Hank's POV

This couldn't be happening. We'd been in the waiting room at Med for hours, waiting for any word on Angel. It was killing me; she was just like me and, since Erin left, she's all I have.

She had to be okay. She had to be.

Will Halstead finally approached us, a sorry look on his face.

"...no." I started, knowing where this was going.

"I'm afraid the bullet did serious damage and Angel is paralyzed from the waist down. You guys can go see her, room 12."

I almost broke down. How was she supposed to keep being a badass detective if she was paralyzed? She couldn't. It wasn't possible.

Without even knowing I was doing it, I walked to Angel's room, entering and sitting beside her in a chair.

She looked at me with sorrow in her eyes. "I...I'm paralyzed, Hank."

"I know, kid. It'll be alright. You'll get through it. We'll get through it together."

She nodded and wiped away a tear. I meant it, we'd get through it. After I killed Golpo and his guys, of course.
