Compass was a normal kid. He had okay grades. He had friends. And, like a lot of boys did, played video games all night. He never did any extracurricular activities. He was kind of lazy, but nothing interested him. Except video games. One day at school, he got one of those fliers that had a bunch of after school activities that they could choose if they wanted to. One activity caught his eye. Video game design. It was video game related and Compass wanted to do it. When he got home, he asked his parents to sign him up. And they did. Compass was actually pretty excited. He told his friends and bragged about it from time to time. First day of classes were on Friday at 4:00.

"You excited, son?"

"Yeah! Why wouldn't I be?"

On Friday, his parents drove him to the recreation center.

"Remember Room 117, okay?"

"Okay!"

Compass opened the door to Room 117. He saw a bunch of girls in the room. He didn't know that girls liked video games. As he walked in, all the girls were staring at him confused. Compass didn't care. He did notice that there were no computers around. Maybe the instructor would bring in laptops like they did at school. After 5 minutes of waiting, the instructor came in.

"Welcome! Are you all excited for you first ballet lesson?"

Compass was in shock. He had signed up for a ballet class. Funny thing was that Compass told his parents what to do. He wasn't paying attention, as usual.

"May I go to the restroom?"

"Go right ahead. It's down to the left."

He didn't go left. He left the building and walked home.

"Can I drop out? Pretty please?"

"Honey we already paid for the classes for two months."

Compass was old enough to understand this. His parents had always told him to not waste money. So, he decided to stay in it for two months. But that turned into a few more years. Compass had learned to like ballet, even though he was clumsy. No one disapproved with it either. Everybody was supportive, even though his friends make fun of him from time to time. There were no hard feelings.

Compass inspired his younger sibling to to ballet as well. But prices of lessons had gone up and he knew that he wouldn't be able to teach his sibling. He's bad at explaining. He couldn't even teach simple multiplying let alone ballet. Not only that, but prices of necessities went up and his parents' jobs paid less.

That's when his friend showed him flier. And if he won, he would get a prize. And that prize could be money. Compass was convinced that it was money. He just had to try.
