After about a days rest Cross was too restless to stay locked up in his room. He felt the urge to check to make sure Nightmare was alright.

There had been two assassination attempts so close together... He couldn't help but worry Nightmare would be attacked again.

He peeked his door open a crack at the perfect time, Nightmare was walking down the hall with another high up guard.

He growled as he assumed that was his replacement for the day. He didn't like the thought of someone taking his place at Nightmares side...

He was unsure of what caused the unhappy feeling, but he ignored it anyway. Nightmare didn't notice him peeking through the crack as he continued to talk.

He saw nothing was following Nightmare and sighed in relief. He hadn't been that worried, but he was still concerned for him.

He felt the pain ebb at his shoulder. He just wanted to be healed, god damn it. He closed his door and sat back down on his bed.

A few moments later there was a light knick on the door. The gentleness in the knock told him exactly who it was. "Come on in Zoie."

The small rabbit opened the door and skipped in. "I brought you more pills because the pain killers must be wearing off by now!" She told him.

She was right, his shoulder was just hurting more after every minute. "Zoie? Whats my replacement doing?" He asked out of instant curiosity.

She raised a brow at him and grabbed his hand, placing the pills in it. "Why do you care so much? It's your day off," She pointed out.

"So? My job remains the same. If I feel Nightmare isn't safe-" Zoie cut him off. She was the only one brave enough to do something like that to someone of a higher rank. "Yeah, yeah... She's just watching him as he goes about his normal day."

"She?" That word came out wrong and Zoie narrowed her eyes. "Ladies can be strong too, sweetie," She told him, passing him a glass of water.

"That's not what I-" "Just take your medicine..." She cut him off again. He quickly did that so he could talk to her again. "You know, if you keep cutting me off like that, I have every right to punish you?"

"You wouldn't hurt me, not unless your senpai ordered you~" She replied, her ears swaying playfully. She knew how to annoy him...

"Pardon me? What did you just call Nightmare...?" He questioned. He was more concerned about the fact she was teasing him. She could start doing that more often.

"Your senpai, am I wrong? He is older than you, your master, and you love the guy~" She giggled, causing Cross to glare at her uncontrollably.

"Don't say such things... Why on earth would I love him? I'm just loyal to my king," Cross growled, not understanding how Zoie could think like that.

"You'll notice sooner or later," She sighed back, turning to walk out. Cross stopped her by grabbing her hand. "What made you think I loved him?"

"Your untamed urge to always be at his side, risking your own life countless times to save him from getting even the smallest sliver, and your need to always please him," She simply answered, a small teasing smile on her face.

"That's all part of my job!" He complained, finding no other way to counter her words. He would be lying if he said those statements were 100% lies.

However he had never even thought about his relationship with Nightmare being anything more than friends. He knew love sucked anyway...

Zoie giggled and gave him a playful look. "If you say so!~" She said in a sing-song voice. "Plus Im not gay!" He quickly added, even though he has yet to fall in love with anyone.

He was somewhat embarrassed with the fact he was being shipped with the king... And how she said Nightmare was his 'senpai'.

He shook it off, realizing he had no reason to even think about it. She was wrong and they can leave it at that.

Not only that, but Nightmare has never felt love towards anyone. He was heatless and probably thought love was useless and a waste of time.

He turned his gaze to look out at the stars. When he was bored he just watched them shine and sparkle from up im the blueish-black sky.

After some time of doing so he became drowsy once again and fell asleep.

Nightmare was in his throne room, awaiting his servants return. Cross was a fast worker, and the new girl proved to be slow.

He heard the door open and expected to see the girl, but instead a different girl entered. "Zoie," He greeted.

She skipped forward towards him. "Nightmare, just came to tell you Cross is healing well," She told him, a small smile on her face. There was a mischievous look in those brown eyes of hers.

"I knew he would get better, why did you feel the need to tell me this?" Nightmare asked, narrowing his eye. She was always up to something...

"I just thought you would want to know your beloved possession was healing well... I can tell you are already missing him," She said, causing him to pause and glare at her.

"Beloved? What's that supposed to mean? And its not a matter of missing him then it is needing him," It took him a moment to realize the mistake in his wording. "And by that I mean needing him to come back and do his job!"

"Awe~ By beloved I mean, well, you have such a soft spot for him!" She giggled. She knew exactly what she was doing. She was trying get him to admit to loving him.

"I do not! Do I...?" He had never been soft on anyone, the thought of that changing embarrassed him slightly.

Zoie giggled and he glared down at her. "I hate you... I really do..." He growled in a low tone. Then his servant returned and Zoie bowed before leaving the two alone.
