ISABELLE’S POV:
Everyone stepped away from the window for what we just saw. Ara threw herself into Yana’s arms and cried out with our other classmates. Everyone ran around the room like there was no tomorrow while I just stared at the window with no words coming out of my mouth. What is there to say?
I kept imagining if we all thought this was just another school day to attend on, where all of us would flunk our Math tests and worry about our grades. But what we didn’t know that it was more than that, and we weren't worried about a test.
We were now worried about our lives.
Clarence was still continuously banging his head against the cemented wall and others kept whimpering on regretting to come to school, on how they would be safer at home. But honestly, this was far from different.
We would be dead by now, even.
Carl approached to Ara still weeping and gave her a task. ‘’Just please calm everyone down. We don’t want to make them angrier.’’ Aside from most of us girls hating him these past few years for being such a dick, she agreed to this and went to check up on the others.
I still kept thinking on why Eryn had a crush on him in 6th grade, but… I kinda saw why now. …The hell, Isabelle?!
I hit myself internally with a giant stick with metal thorns as I thought that one tiny thing. Joshua was worse enough, but…ugh…
I am not mentioning that douche again.
As Darylle tried to help Ara calm things down, no one barely listened to them and kept doing what they were doing even though she was terrified as they are, but still tried to keep things under control. Carl was resting his head against the wall from stress, and Eryn was guarding the door just in case something happened. I walked to her direction and was surprised for what we both saw.
Jairo came back.
We all observed he wasn't completely alive, but came back from the dead and started to bang the door like the other two who suffered with the disease. His skin was rotten as his guts were still falling out, and his darj brow eyes were replaced with the haunting glow of white, filled with hunger to feed. We kept Jan away from the door as far as she should, we all knew that she did not want to see this.
But…why did he still come back if we knew he was dead already?
I walked to the other direction of the room and saw Isabella and Jan were still mourning over our dead classmate. Ara approached the two and sat in the same height as theirs. She rubbed Jan’s shoulders and tried to console with both of them.
‘’It happened so fast. I’m sorry, Jan.’’ Ara sighed, almost shedding tears herself. Jan wiped her tears then her reddish eyes turned to her, but with anger.
‘’Why do you care? You hated him. Everyone did…’’ She sniffed. She looked to her chestnut eyes with sympathy other than starting an argument, which was not a smart decision.
‘’No one deserved to die like that.’’ Her eyes shifted with sadness again and rested her head on hers while still weeping, and everyone was still busy panicking. Ara accepted this and decided to open up with her friend. ''I...saw the way you looked at him. We all did. Everyone knew, Jan.''
She sniffed once more wiping a tear off of her face and put on a weak smile. ''I know.''
With impatience, Eryn and I finally had the courage to say something. ‘’We can’t stay in this room forever, we have to get out of here and it has to be now. The door’s not gonna hold long…’’ Eryn said after she started biting the nail of her thumb, still staring at the sight of the window.
