WELL

THIS TOOK A LONG-ASS TIME

‘’Nice guess, bitches.’’ She said with a grin.

The whole class suddenly went silent.

‘’How did you…’’ Carl was too stunned to finish his sentence. Angella, one of the laziest people in their class that had no chance, survived.

He looked back to Christen but she didn’t. She was too happy to even talk that she found out her best friend was alive. He had guilt written all over his face.

‘’Where have you been…all this time…?’’ Christen said happily but for some reason had a touch of sadness in her tone. It felt like betrayal.

He hated to admit it to himself, but Carl was wrong after all.

‘’You might not know this, but I’m more experienced than you jackasses. I found out about the outbreak before all of you did. I’m actually surprised you guys didn’t get eaten, who led you?’’

Eryn then faced Darylle and Carl. ‘’They did. We had to go through a lot of shit to get out of the campus. Darylle used her wits to cover ourselves with their rotten blood to blend in and Carl saved our asses a couple of times.’’ Eryn explained. Angella scoffs at the part where the 16 year old boy was mentioned and laughs.

‘’That explains why the bus smells like shit, and it wasn’t the driver.’’ Angella chuckled. Darylle then steps forward to the bus and sits at the front row in front of her. ‘’Now that we know you’re alive, can you tell us what the actual fuck is going on here?’’

Angella sighs before continuing her explanation. ‘’The school is fucking stupid if they think they can handle the things that’s been going on. The virus is out of control. There’s no way you could stop it now.’’

‘’So…you’re saying that parents and loved ones…’’ Isabella whimpered. She secretly hopes that Angella was going to say there was still a chance for them to survive. But no, she just stayed silent.

‘’Speaking of which, where are you taking us?’’ Isabelle asked.

‘’First, I’m going to go take a little stop, now that there’s a lot of us. Then I’ll tell you.’’

‘’What the hell is that supposed to mean?’’

Angella stopped the vehicle in what looks like a police station. She reloads the gun she had on her holster. She later gets the axe from her back and throws it to her friend. ‘’Christen, you’re coming with me. Carl, Darylle, protect the bus at all costs. Kill anyone or anything that tries to enter.'' She says as she hands a pistol to Carl and a huge survival knife to Darylle. Both of them nodded of agreement and headed to the front to keep an eye out to their companions.

‘’Why the hell—‘’

‘’Just come the fuck on and don’t ask any more questions until we reached inside.’’ Christen glares at Angella and does what she was told, the axe on her grasp and follows Angella’s lead.

The two girls head out to the nearby police station. ‘’You have no problem smashing some walkers’ heads, right?’’ Angella asked smoothly.

‘’Where the hell have you been?’’

‘’What did I just say?’’ She referred to her warning.

‘’I don’t give a shit. I’m asking you something logical here.’’

Angella kept staring forward gesturing to the station nearby. ‘’Come on, we’re almost there.’’ Christen sighs at her lost friend, but she had no choice but to follow her if she wanted to live.

The young teenager opened the door and went straight to the area where the guns were kept. ‘’Christen, cover me.’’ Christen nods as a reply and stays at the door. She hears the clicking of the guns and when she looked back, Angella was stacking them inside a bag, similar to the one where they kept their food and supplies from the cafeteria.

''So, now we're inside. Now tell me where the fuck have you gone.''

''Didn't I tell you I moved to  Booker T. Washington?'' Angella simply answered.

No. Nothing, she got nothing from her. All you could see from Christen's face was anger. She scoffs loudly and shakes her head, disagreeing.

''You said you would call me after you moved. You stood me up in God knows how many times already and you ignored my messages and calls. I was worried, goddammit...'' She was already in the verge of shedding her first tear.

''Listen, Christen. I know I fucked up. You have plenty of time to yell at me or beat the hell out of me later but what we're experiencing right now? It's war. I don't care if I did not talk to or see you. I don't care if your hormones are taking over your emotions and I don't care if you and Carl are an item now or not. But what I do care about is that you survived. It is fucking madness out there. I came back here with her to get supplies, and also to see if you were okay. I was going to leave you, but...''

Angella trailed off through her thoughts. Her feelings got the best of her and she wasn't able to continue.

Christen just stared at her shocked. She thought that Angella was just a cold stone of no emotion. And she nay even see a tear in her eye.

''Any walkers in sight?'' Angella asks suddenly changing the subject. Christen shakes her head and turns back to the window in front to see a small herd coming for the bus. ''If you wanna do something, you better do it fast.'' Christen almost said yelling, lifting her axe for a fight. Angella walks beside her and sees what Christen is talking about and quickly lifts the heavy bag.

''Fuck, they're coming.'' She gets the rifle from her back and aims for the nearest walkers to clear a path. ''When I give the signal, get your ass inside the bus. You got it?''

''What about you?'' She whispered. Angella started shooting the first ones in order to give her time to go back.

''I'll be fine!'' She grunts, pulling the trigger of the rifle trying not to be affected by the noise being caused.  When the walkers who blocked the vehicle was taking down, Angella nudged her head to it, signaling to go. Christen sprints as fast as she could and enters the bus and sits next to the driver's seat, witnessing what's outside the window if her friend was okay.

''Where's Angella?!'' Darylle yells. ''She's still out there, but she said she could handle it!''

Carl glances down to the window where Christen was peeking out and saw that Angella was struggling. He shook his head and heads out to the exit. She notices what he's doing and grabs his arm. ''What the fuck do you think you're doing, you'll die out there!''

''Look at her, Christen. She can't survive that!'' Carl pulls away from her grip and runs down the stairs. He takes out the pistol that Angella gave him and started shooting the ones that were almost getting close to her. Angella notices this and glances over. ''Make sure to aim for the head!'' She instructed him. Carl nods and starts aiming to where Angella said so. Luckily, he cleared a path that led Angella have time to run back with the bag she was aiming for.

''Get the fuck over here!'' Carl waves his arms for Angella to see and headed inside. He closed the door of the bus and quickly ran over to some walkers to their destination.

''I hope you guys are fast learners, because survival school is in session to where we're going.  You also might want to change your clothes and take a quick shower, you guys fucking stink.''

''So where are we going?'' Eryn asked.

 ''Your new home.''
