"look up"

During the long, car ride, Aunt Karen had been giving me a detailed profile on her life since she lost me. She lived in the rural part of Virginia, on a small horse ranch where she raised and trained horses for a living. My uncle Kurt, her husband, which would make him my mother's brother-in-law, never wanted any of his own kids, but when May mother left me and my brother to them, he was more than happy to take us in.

"You'll love it in Virginia, we can send people to go back for the rest of your stuff whenev-" Aunt Karen started, but i was quick to cut her off, "Uh n-no, i don't have anything else, this-this is kinda it.." i squeezed my lips together and forced a smile.

"oh.." she replied sadly, it was awkwardly silent for a while, i fiddled with my thumbs, and she kept her eyes plastered on the highway.

"Do you know how it happened?" She asked, just glancing over at me. I sat up in my seat and grabbed a piece of my deflating hair, "H-how what happened?" i questioned back curiously, i really didn't have a clue as what she was referring to.

"It was December first, it was freezing that day, i will never forget. I heard the doorbell ring, and when i went to answer it, all that was there was a baby in an old carrier, and a little, dirty boy. He handed me the note, and i knew i was in disbelief that my sister never told me the condition she was in.

I took you in immediately, you were gorgeous," she smiled at her own memory, and looked over at me, "Obviously not much has changed though."

I returned the smile, and muttered something that sounded like a thank you, but what i wanted to say was: wait until i take this makeup off, a lot has changed. I refrained.

We pulled into a giant hotel before she could finish her story, she promised me she would finish it later.

I started thinking as we unloaded my bags, things just weren't adding up, of course i was happy to be with my aunt, but where was uncle Kurt? Where was my brother? Why were we in California?

My mouth moved before i could think, "Whats my brothers name?" I blurted out, immediately after i started to blush. I was embarrassed that i hadn't asked that all this time. That's all I've been dying to know, but no one seemed to have that information.

Aunt Karen put my suite case on the ground of the parking lot, she smiled at me, warmth glowed in her eyes. She was so comforting and compassionate, i was sad i dint get to spend my childhood years with her.

She sighed, "Cameron, Cameron Dallas." When i heard that name, my heart stopped, it sounded so familiar, and so- so perfect. It just fit. "Would you like to meet him?" She was still giggling at my facial expression. I nodded and laughed, but tears poured down my face at the same time. Aunt Karen grabbed my shoulder, and lead me towards the hotel doors.

The hotel was beautiful, complete with an indoor swimming pool, a workout facility, and even a spa. I felt like a child in a candy shop, i wanted to go explore it all, but Aunt Karen had other ideas.

She lead me down a few hallways, and security guards swarmed every which way, i wondered what was the commotion all about, i mean we were in California, maybe it was a celebrity?

Aunt Karen put a badge around my neck, "you will need to keep this on you at all times, it will get you in and out of the conventions, and keep you safe form crazy girls." My head was spinning, what convention? What crazy girls? WHAT WAS GOING ON?!?!!?

My head was so deep in a whirlwind of thought, i barley noticed the sound of music, which was far too loud for me, and a screaming crowd, growing louder and louder.

Aunt Karen looked at me, and must have saw my confusion, "WHATS WRONG SWEETIE?" she yelled over the, now deafining, music, "WHATS GOING ON? WHAT IS ALL THIS?" I shouted back. "NOBODY TOLD YOU? ABOUT ALL THIS?" She waved her hands geusturing to the whole scene. "WELL I DONT HAVE MANY PEOPLE TO BEGIN WITH SO NO..?" I shouted, keeping my brow furrowed to show my major confusion.

"OH MY GOD, IM SO SORRY. THIS MUST BE SO CONFUSING, I WILL EXPLAIN IT ALL LATER BUT FIRST," she got cut short when we came to a stop at a pair of two huge doors, it sounded like  the noise was coming from inside. I guessed i was going to find out, because Aunt Karen reached for one of the doors and swung it open. "ALEXANDRA, WELCOME TO MAGCON!" She smiled her biggest smile, and geustured for me to go in.

It was incredible, we seemed to be above the event, on some type of balcony. Below us was surreal, there was a croud of what looked like five to six thousand girls, all of them holding different colored signs, and pictures. Everyone was screaming, while the music got louder and louder. There were colorful lights darting in every direction, there were discoballs, and beachballs being tossed all around. It was absolute madness.

What was this? What did this have to do with my brother?

My eyes glanced to the stage, there were two boys dancing up in the front of the stage, but other people crowed around them. There was one girl, she looked like she was controlling the music. All of them held microphones, and the guys dancing were saying something i didnt understand.

Since we were above the stage, i couldnt make out faces, everthing was so overwhelming i couldnt think straight.

i turned to my aunt, "So are we meeting Cameron here or something?" I got butterfilies when i said his name, i was so nevous about meeting him, but how was i going to find him at a place like this? I was quite close to Aunt Karen's ear so she could hear me, but instead of replying, she just bursted out laughing.

"What?" I asked in a tremendously confused tone, she held up a finger to me, and got her phone out. She opened imessage, and started typing. I peered over her shoulder, as her thumbs went to work. the message read "look up."

After she hit send, she pointed to the stage, before i could even focus on any one of the boys up there, there was a large thud. Like the sound of the microphone hitting the floor.

Suddenly the whole crowd knew where to look, it was the boy at the end of the line. He was very tan, with fresh, brown hair that was gelled up, i couldnt make see his face too well, but i could tell his eyes were glued to us. He look shocked? maybe even surprised?

then it clicked. my heart started to race, my palms grew sweaty, my knees got weak, all of my joints started to lock, i couldnt breath, the butterfies exploded out of the cacoons in my stomach, my eyes widened, and tears formed, and a smile began to sneak onto my face. could it be?

My aunt grabbed my hand, "Alex meet your brother, Cameron Dallas."
