Jane's Mask.
Jane goes from guy to guy
And every weekend she goes to parties to get high
She drinks until she passes out
She'll cause drama and scream and shout
When she's all alone
She feels she's made of stone
She feels empty and cold
Like she's in a game of poker but she will not fold
Jane sleeps with every guy she meets
Hoping she'll find the one who makes her feel complete.
She'll flaunt her stuff
Hoping to catch his eye or look tuff
She doesn't get along with people very well
She holler and yell
Stamp her feet and slap your face
Makes comments under her breathe and to your face
But all Jane really wants is her Cinderella story
She dreams about dancing around with such glory
She'll have her prince charming to sweep her off her feet
And she knows he'll never cheat.
But for now she's stuck
In her life that has run amuck
She can't break free
She looks in the mirror and thinks "This isn't me"
She tries to get out but can't
In her head she hears the constant chant
"Your ugly, your worthless"
And inside she feels useless
If only she knew if she didn't hide behind her mask of mean
If only she could shrug off the comments instead of making a scene.
She'd be beautiful and smart
If she tries her marks would be off the chart
But instead she stays in her shell
Thinking no matter what she's going to hell
One day she'll find out the voice in her head isn't real
and one day instead of being numb she will truly feel
One day she'll get her Cinderella story
And one day she'll be able to dance around with glory
Her Prince Charming will come and sweep her off her feet
And finally she'll feel complete.
