The man's figure was clouded in shadow, in mystery. We couldn't make out any part of his body, except for his eyes. They gleamed and glinted against what little sunlight was left. He began to take steps, then strides, faster and faster. Orella and I looked at each other, curious and threatened at the same time. I felt a bit of rumbling coming from Orella, as her hair started to levitate a bit. My instincts were screaming out at me, and I chose to follow them.
I thought deeply about the Norse tale I had read moments before, and my necklace became a deep, sanguine red. I whispered to myself, ready to drive this mysterious man to insanity, but held off in case Orella happened to glance my way. I was ready to bring it to full effect at any moment, but I just had to be ready.
The man kept inching closer and closer, until the light that radiated from our Jyns began to shed light on his face. He was a darker-skinned man, and was slightly taller than me. He had a saturated indigo hair color, and his hair was slicked back, yet tussled. He wore a simple button up and slacks, but paired it with slightly more stylish running shoes. However, the reason why his eyes were glowing was not because of the eyes themselves, but the glasses on his face. His Jyn seemed to be those eyeglasses. They were rounded spectacles with a silver rimming. On the temples, there were lines made by sharp incisions, but no fancy designs.
"Woah, woah, woah guys... I'm not here to cause any trouble!" the man stammered nervously.
"Well th—"
"Then why are you here? It's the dead of night, and you expect us not to retaliate?" Orella interrupted.
"I-I just wanted to see if anyone else had Jyns, that's all! My glasses started to glow a bit so I tried to track you guys down, and I saw the spheres from inside the city!" the guy explained.
We calmed ourselves down as the dust settled. My necklace was still red, in case something did happen. But Orella's Jyn was practically shut off. I still had a sneaking suspicion about this man, but I held off for now.
"Well it seems like you guys know how to respond to a fight, huh?" he observed. "I'm Sigu, nice to meet you!"
"The pleasure is ours," I responded in a monotone voice.
"I'm Ori! This is Wu!" Orella introduced.
A warm smile characterized his face. He shook our hands and took off his glasses, hanging them off of his shirt. I let out a breath of relief as his Jyn was put away.
The sun began to tuck away past Kin, as the moon rose to greet those still awake. It shined on the river and illuminated the sky, almost as if it was early morning. The stars began to appear as some twinkled close to us. Sigu touched one as it floated off away from him.
"So, how much knowledge have you guys acquired?" Sigu questioned curiously.
"We both just learned a new tidbit about our Jyns from this mythology book," I answered, lifting up the literary work.
"You know, I found out it is not required to necessarily find knowledge in books," Sigu stated. "Knowledge is, of course, the heart of the Jyns. However, it is only knowledge, not books. So when I thought about what glasses were for, they suddenly glowed, and I had been blessed with a new power! It didn't provide a sphere, so I guess it's just a little confirmation rather than an absorption of new information."
Orella gaped in awe. We had never thought about it before. Common sense is definitely a type of knowledge, but it was unbeknownst to us before. We looked at each other, trying to think about what we had already known about our artifacts.
"Well, mirrors reflect things, right? Would I not be able to reflect attacks of some sort?" Orella wondered.
In response, the mirror glowed a pale white, answering her thoughts aloud. She clapped joyfully, her purity showing through her face. As for me, I could not think of anything necklaces could do, other than look pretty. If this is the misfortune at work again, I wanted another Jyn.
