He stands there, blood dripping from the claw contraptions on his hands. He kind of just looks at us, until he realizes June is hurt.
"Oh god. June. Jesus, man. We gotta get her to the medic," he says. "Wait, medic? Where the fuck did you go? I mean, it's been, what? Two months? How did you find such a big group?" Lisa says.
"I'll answer that when we get there. Right now, we kinda need to get June fixed up," he says.
Me and him pick her up and carry her out to a car that's, apparently, owned by John. He runs to the front seat, puts in the key, and starts to drive us away.
"So, where the fuck did you go?" Lisa asks with a puzzled look. He hesitates, as if wondering if he still trusts us. Then he seems content. He starts.
"When you guys lost me, I ran all the way to Florida. Well, I didn't literally run the whole way there. I found this car, of course. Anyway, I was on my own for about a week, and then in Florida, a man by the name of Stan, took me to his civilization. It was a small animal sanctuary, and they saved most of the animals there. It was kind of like a bunch of people followed in King Ezekiel's footsteps. They trained animals and saved them. So, when I showed up they taught me how to train the animals. And so I got a fucking bear! His name is Andy. Yes, I named him after Andy Biersack. So, yeah. That's it."
"Wow. That's awesome." Lisa says. She sort of acted like she didn't care. She looks out the window, wrapped in thoughts.
"So, where are Ivy and Gabe?" Daniel says. My face turns cold when I hear they're names. Lisa sniffles. She starts to speak, but chokes on the words.
"Um. They're dead. Ivy got bit and Gabe..... He shot her in the head. We decided we needed to kill him after I beat the shit out of him, and June asked to do it. So she killed him." I say. He's speechless. He just looks through the windshield with disdain.
"Well, shit. I'm sorry guys. I wish I hadn't left," he says. His look is so sad that no one speaks for the whole ride. He just drives.
We arrive, and no one interviews us or anything. It struck me as weird, until they instantly ran towards June. They better fix her. I can't lose her, or anyone else.
Enid keeps her distance from everyone. Lisa kind of just looks around. Eli follows John, obviously interested in this place. John shows him around.
"This is where we keep the animals. You guys want to meet Andy?" John stares at us with his eyes filled with excitement. I turn to him, away from the pictures of past owners. "Sure."
"Alright!" He opens a door and leads us down a hallway filled with huge cages.
