Well, I really didn't understand what was going on. Rose never mentioned any kind of council. Why did it scare her? I was so confused that all I could do was stare and watch Rose have her own miny melt down. She looked at me and she grabbed my shirt in her fists, pulling me to eye level.

"Nikolai you must listen-," but before she could finish, a white letter drifted to her side. Rose picked up the letter carefully, as if it were going to explode and kill us both. She opened the letter and began to read aloud.

" Rose Valentine, you and Nikolai Everheart, former human, are summoned to appear before the council in forty-eight hours. The two of you will be put on trial for multiple acts against the society. Sincerely, Mr. Popkins."

"Who's Mr. Popkins?" Nikolai asked as he observed the letter.

"The head of the council," she answered with a sigh as she leaned her back on the wall.

"And what would the council be?" Nikolai asked as he set the letter down.

"Well, the oldest and strongest of the slayer's that are alive make up the council. The council is apart of the society but instead of attacking they use more legal ways of thinking," Rose muttered as she stood up.

              "Why are they summoning us?"

"Well I'm illegally holding a vampire and I would assume there are more annoying reasons that my brother has made, or they have found through their snooping," Rose answered.

"It's been a long day you should rest. You can use my parent's room," Rose said pointing down the hall as she walked into her room and closed the door. Nikolai got up and made his way to the room. He had never been in there because Rose forbids it.

She must be really stressed to allow me to stay in here. He walked into the room and lit a candle. He took off his shoes and jacket and then tried to make himself comfortable in the large bed. The sheets had a thin layer of dust coating them, just like everything else in the room. He figured that she hadn't used the room much. He let himself slip into a dreamless sleep.
