Anderson...loves me?
Wow. I am beyond surprised. I had never thought of that.
But from what happened earlier, I saw the sadness in Brooke's eyes.
"Anderson...loves you," Brooke said.
I saw her head shook down, obviously trying to stop the tears from falling. As he went away, she just fell to her knees and began to cry.
And I can't even do anything.
How despicable of me.
The next day, I saw Brooke instead of Anderson waiting for me there at the lobby.
She just held my hand and went to her office.
"I...can't say it in front of him."
"What do you mean?" I asked her.
"That I love him. How incredible of me," she answers with a fake smile.
Her tears were falling down as she recounts the memories she had with Anderson.
"A few years ago, before you came, I was one of his companions to a concert in Nashville. We were just dancing slowly, and enjoying the night. It was then I realized I had loved him."
"Then...why can't you say it in front of him?" I asked her again.
"I...I knew he would meet someone like you. It was best just to...to hide what I really feel," she sadly responded.
The hurt in her was so obvious.
"I was just a fan, Brooke. I really wouldn't have thought to have landed my first job here. I had loved Anderson since his coverage on Hurricane Katrina, and then...I just...am at loss for words having to meet him in person and working with him," I told her. "But why tell me this?"
"Tell him before it's too late."
"Tell him what?" I asked.
"You love him right? Tell him everything. Tell him that you love him," she said.
And she left.
