Landon
The van door opened and we both pulled away. I turned away just as Marlie opened the door widely. I heard Chris draw out a breath.
"Hey, Marlie... What's up?" Chris said, pathetically.
I rolled my eyes, glad she couldn't see me. Or she would've killed me with her bare hands.
"We found something." I heard Marlie say.
"Did you?" Chris said, dramatically.
"Yeah. Didn't you guys listen? We've been paging you for the past five minutes." Marlie scolded.
"I'm sorry. We were busy... bickering." Chris mumbled.
I glanced at Marlie. She looked like she was about to kill. It gave shivers down my spine almost immediately.
"Could you stop your bickering for at least until our mission is over?" Marlie snapped.
We merely nodded our heads and turned back to the monitor. We had access to the security cameras all around the hotel.
"Where's Jess and Lucas?" Chris asked.
"They're still inside. They're undercover. At least... for now. That's why we need to find these people before any fighting happens. They wouldn't be able to protect themselves from... those people." Marlie said slowly.
Chris muttered something about us not doing the fun job and how it's all Marlie's fault. I'd have to agree with her on that. That's when we saw people running out of the people and a gunshot was heard.
Out of instinct, agent instinct, we both pulled out our guns cocking our guns and we went out of the van. Me, falling behind both girls. We entered the hotel and found some people hiding and quivering with fear.
We hid behind a wall and immediately searched for Jess and Lucas. Marlie hid behind the opposite side of the wall while Chris stayed beside me. I can feel her tense. That's when I realized; Jess and Lucas were... are her friends. Of course, she'd be worried. Especially with people with less fighting training like them. Then my brain lingered on what happened earlier.
Not now, Landon! Sorry.

Chris
Jess.
When I heard the gunshot, a million scenarios popped into my head almost immediately. Such as; What if she's dead? What will be her mother's reaction when I tell her the news? Will she be able to handle it? Will I be able to handle it? My heart sped up at the thought of losing my best friend.
The only friend that I ever had.
Think about positive thoughts... Positive thinking... Don't think about death yet. It's too early. Of course, Jess isn't dead yet... Lucas is with her.
Right. Lucas.
He knows these kinds of things. I've seen him do hand-to-hand combat. I've even fought with him myself, three years ago. He can protect her. This is just perfect. I relaxed a bit.
This is good. This is really good. At least now, I know Jess is in safe hands...
Is she? I mean... I know it's been a few weeks but I don't fully trust Lucas. For all I know, he could be a part of this. A traitor.
Why would you start doubting him now? Now of all times?
My thoughts were interrupted when I heard another gunshot. Landon cursed under his breath.
