How we got out

I'm not quite sure

It all became a blur

Of noise

And blood

She was like a feather in my arms

Weightless

Helpless

Her head lolling to the side as I ran

Whispers of blue hair trailing the once clean

Now stained floor

The gun fired in my hands

Dropping

One

Two

Three

Guards to the ground

I wasn't sure where to go

The noise and flashing lights disorienting me

A click

And the gun was out of bullets

I dropped it to the floor

Passing by a guard slumped on the floor

I grab a couple of grenades from his belt

I unclipped them and threw them as far as I could

Hoping we would get out in time

I gripped her tightly

And continued on

The last door

Grew closer and closer

But felt so far away

Pushing through

Bullets ricocheting off the wall behind me

I plunge

Head first

Into a world of white

And cold

I ran faster than I could have ever imagined

The wind stinging my face

Eyes

Hands

The explosions booming behind me

a blast of heat

following me

Into a dark forest

Where the trees loomed over me like strangers

Watching

Silent

I ran until I couldn't run anymore

My breaths excruciating

Behind me

There is nothing

But white

And trees

Cobalt is dead weight in my arms

Her skin as pale as this blank world

I want to stop

But I know

I can't

So I keep walking

Slowly

But surely

On towards the

Unknown

In my short time

Of living on earth

I have never been outside

And now

After all this time

I was finally
