Chapter 2- Trouble arises

Chapter 2

When May and I walk into the office building, we weren’t expecting to see that the cover for Centipede is a clothes shop. Both May and I were a bit worried about the fact that they would be suspicious. After all we have destroyed many of their labs and now we are walking into their shop, through the front door, which is very unusual for us, after all we love sneaking through the back door and causing a lot of trouble (that is our speciality).

‘Get back to the mission Skye.’ I say to myself

When we start looking around at ‘clothes’ we silently and very subtle look to see if they have any cameras but it appears that there are no cameras and that we are the only ones in the shop, everyone else always just walks straight past it, as if they don’t see it.

‘Wait a minute.’ I leave the shop and go out onto the street and look up and down the street.  A guy stops 2 metres away from me and I decide to ask him, for answers, to see whether my suspicions are right.

“Excuse me?”

“Can I help you?” he asks

“Why doesn’t anyone stop and go in this shop?”

“What shop?”

“This clothes shop, just here.”

“There is no clothes shop there, it is just an empty block”

“Oh, alright thankyou”

Asking that man has just confirmed what I thought. No one stops at the clothes shop, because they can’t see it. And of course everyone else just heard that because we are linked with everyone via comlink and they can hear and see everything.

The next thing I know, I am hearing Coulson’s voice over the  Comlink.

“Fallback and meet back at the Bus, immediately.”

We all withdraw and start to head back to the Bus.

When May and I get to the Bus, everyone else is already there and waiting for us to arrive.

Fitz-Simmons have looks of absolute horror on their faces and it is clear to me that they can’t work out how an entire building is being hidden and why S.H.I.E.L.D. agents are the only ones who can see a clothes shop.

“Alright, so what is going on? Why can we see the clothes shop, but no one else can? And how are they making it invisible?” asks Coulson

“Not a clue” says Fitz

Jemma follows saying “The hell if I know. This is more advanced than anything I’ve ever heard of.”

May is looking at me and she sees me with a frown and avoiding looking at anyone

“Skye, what do you know, that we don’t?” she asks

Everyone suddenly looks at me, with reluctance I say what I had been thinking

“I might know how they made the clothes shop invisible. I am just hoping that I am wrong.”

“Why are you hoping you are wrong?”

“Because if I am right, then someone from my past, someone I thought was dead, is back and a bigger threat than ever and most likely if this person is back for revenge.”

“Revenge for what and on who?” asks Simmons

“Revenge on me.”

“What?” That is the first time Ward has spoken since we got back.

Coulson says “What did you do?”

“It isn’t what I did, it is what I didn’t do. About 3 years before I joined S.H.I.E.L.D. this guy, who was a friend of mine, wanted me to hack into the government database of the White house, and steal lots of classified  files, that could jeopardise the  national security. And basically I said no, and he got really pissed off and told me that I would regret it and that one day he would make me pay for saying no to him, he hates people saying no to him.”

“And you didn’t take this threat seriously?” asks Coulson

“Well, at first I did, but 3 weeks after I said no, he was ‘killed’ when he broke into a research lab and tried to steal something, but what he didn’t know was that when he broke in they  were experimenting on something and that something blew up and killed 10 people, including him or so I thought, so everyone thought. But it appears that he fooled everyone.”

“So how do you think he’s involved in this?”

“He worked in developing a type of technology that only certain people can see. And whoever has the tech can choose... oh no.”

“What is it?” Ward asks

“Centipede knows who we are now. We can’t go back.
