Sitting with his legs crossed, Pilo meditated, focusing on the tingle in the back of his mind. Pleasurable tension pushed back at his focus. Unlocking a new part of his mind took concentration. Remembering his experience within his hallucination, he tried to figure out how he connected with the bat. The center of his mind felt electric, and commanded his attention. Unable to find the results he wanted, Pilo started to doubt his abilities. As soon as the thought of doubt entered his mind, the electricity inside his brain was gone.

Feeling the loss of static among his neurons, Pilo remembered the part of his hallucination when he walked through the door. Thinking about all of the negative thoughts he had to push through, made him more determined about his task. Doubt would cripple his success. He would have to push all of the negative thoughts aside, and put all his energy in finding the connection. Rubbing his temples, Pilo went back to meditating.

Finding the bridge between the two planes of existence took work. He had to chase the feeling as it kept slipping out of his concentration. When he finally opened the door within his pineal gland, he forgot all about the world. The presence of the bat became an extension of himself. There were multiple thoughts in his brain, and it took concentration to meld them together. They were connected, but they hadn't swapped planes yet. Keeping his eyes closed, Pilo took control of the bat's thoughts, and began to see through a different set of eyes. From the corner of the ceiling, he experienced an out of body experience. Although Pilo could be seen in focus, his surroundings were distorted and out of focus.

Pilo was trying to use a muscle he had never flexed before. It reminded him of times when he tried to raise only one eyebrow. He knew he possessed the means, he just couldn't find the correct brain request to make it happen. More animalistic in the bat's mind, he didn't have to fight through the extensive cloud of thought. The bat wanted to escape the spirit realm, and finally had its chance. Taking control, the bat flexed the muscle, and Pilo watched as the black mist began to surround him. When he was engulfed, the bat detached from the ceiling and flew into the mist.

Taking his first ghost walk aroused all of Pilo's nerve endings. Moving into the spirit realm gave Pilo feelings he hadn't felt since he had been cursed. Consciousness swapped, and Pilo found himself back in his own mind, still connected with the bat. His surroundings were distorted and out of focus, absent of light. There was a small bubble of space around him he could see. Everything outside the bubble didn't reflect back any light.

The bat flew through the bars, and dragged Pilo with him. Approaching the bars, he feared for the impact, but slid right through the metal. Frantically, the bat searched for an escape. Flying up and down the halls, the bat drug Pilo behind him in erratic movements. As the shock wore off of Pilo, he knew he had to take control of the situation.

While being drug throughout the area, Pilo concentrated on the bat's thoughts. During his concentration he did his best to convey with his tandem animal where they needed to go. Within his bubble of vision, Pilo looked for a certain direction for them. They passed by several doors, but none of them were open. The bat searched up and down the stone hallway, but couldn't find an exit point. When the bat grew tired, it perched, giving Pilo a chance to walk the halls on his own.

Touching the walls around him, Pilo couldn't feel anything. Inside the spirit realm all tangibles were absent. Placing his hands on the wall, he could push himself right through with minimal resistance. Approaching one of the doors, he walked right through to the other side. Finding a stairwell, he walked up toward the hallway above. If he didn't press hard against surfaces, he could find support on objects residing outside the spirit realm. Taking caution, he placed his foot on each stair, fearful of what would happen if he fell through.
