Annabelle's POV:
I woke up later than usual the next morning and threw on some jeans, a black top and some converse before making my way downstairs. I had a day of shopping to look forward to so I quickly made up some toast and took a look at my watch. It was 12:47, I had time to kill and therefore I decided to take my time getting there. I left without a hello or goodbye from Dad or Danny and made my way to the bus stop. It took me about an hour on this bus so I got on it. I sat at the back by the window admiring the view. I fished out my phone and headphones and blasted my music loud enough for me to drown out all the noise. Music helped me escape the world of awkward socialisation and fake friends. Due to this ideology of life I had a small group of friends and the boyfriend department was most definitely gathering cobwebs.
The bus had delayed a bit and by the time I reached the mall it was 1:52, I smiled at my accuracy and proceeded to walk towards the glass made building. In winter they put up small lights they shone dimly but the reflections caused it to look like there were hundreds brightly lit. As I neared the entrance I saw a familiar bundle of orange hair done up in a French braid. I walked up silently behind her and tapped her on the shoulder, "Hey Tara" I said as she stood up for a hug. Tara had always been far better at fashion than myself and never faltered in her look. Today she was wearing an off the shoulder white blouse with a denim skirt, shades and a small bag. She loved to tan so obviously in this summer heat she loved to get her legs out. I never compare my outfits to her because although we liked the same things our styles were a little off. None the less, we giggled and walked inside.
It wasn't busy so we walked slowly towards our favourite shops. Tara was use to getting attention from the opposite sex but I still wasn't. Personally, I thought that I would never get use to it. She could act so cool whereas I would end up falling at their feet or something. In the end we picked out a few bits each for Saturday. Tara collected a few more dresses and tees to add to her collection and I did the same. On the way home we were giggling about all things girl when she said, "so.. Your brother" and even though I saw it coming I rolled my eyes furiously. She laughed at me but I was serious. "He's most probably coming" I said icily. I could tell she knew I was annoyed but thought best not to push too hard. Im glad she did. I was definitely not calm enough to talk about nosy Danny and my all of a sudden caring Dad.
When I got home I went straight up to my room. Although I was calmer, I didn't want prying eyes on my clothes. Tara's party was tomorrow and nothing was going to get me down. We had discussed the plans and I was to come to the party with Daniel and Cater and my brothers (at the moment) girlfriend Gwen. She was clingy but he didn't care, sometimes I felt like he didn't even know she was there. He never really kept a girlfriend for more than a few weeks and as of right now it was 9 days and I was counting down till the break-up. I heard the front door shut and guessed Dad was home from work so I thought it best to make up with him or I possibly might not be going tomorrow. I walked slowly down the stairs and into the kitchen where he was eating fish and chips. He looked up at me as I walked in and I smiled and sat down in front of him. I could tell he was tired and nodded as he smiled at me. "I understand what you meant yesterday Dad and im sorry I went too far", I felt guilty slightly as he looked up to me and said" I was just looking out for you, you are still my baby girl" I laughed a little and took a chip from his plate he smiled at me as I left on the hunt for Danny.
I could hear his TV blasting loudly so I knew he was in his room. I walked to his door and knocked gently but by the sounds of it there were others in his room too. As I didn't hear a sound I thought he hadn't heard me which was good because I didn't really want to apologise to him in front of his friends. As I turned to walk down the hallway I heard a creak come from the door and I froze. "Fuck" I whispered under my breath. As I turned expecting to face Daniel I was met with the piercing blue eyes of his other best friend Matt. He gave me a grin and I rolled my eyes, his reputation was infamous he was a ladies man. I walked towards him but not close enough for him to try anything funny as I said, "can i speak to my brother matt?", I tried my hardest not to stutter as I found him quite intimidating. He had a huge grin on his face as he spoke quietly but just loud enough for me to hear "he's busy but you can talk to me", now his grin was growing larger and I was getting frustrated. I let out a huff before barging past him.
As I stepped into the room I saw that Danny and Carter were playing his stupid games and seemed entranced. Then Matt stepped in behind me and as the door opened and caused light to flood the room making them turn around. I looked at Danny and as he looked at me he rolled his eyes and this annoyed me heavily, "Fine!" I shouted at him making all three of the boys jump. "Serves me right for coming to apologise", I said dis-heartedly. He didn't even look back and as I looked at Carter he just stared at my face. In my head all I thought was, what a bunch of pricks. I turned around to come face to face with Matt. "Hey beautiful" he remarked stroking his blonde hair. I sent him death stares and yet he still didn't back down. I turned to see if Danny was going to say anything but he didn't. Carter was dead eyeing Matt for some reason but it was probably because he wanted me gone and Matt was blocking my path. I barged past Matt and headed for my room. I heard him laugh as he closed the door and fell silent.
That night I sat in bed feeling completely annoyed with Danny. I heard a soft tap on the door and sat up. As I did Danny walked in and I turned away from him. He gently closed the door and sat on the bed. He coughed gently and began to speak, "I'm sorry Annie about earlier I was just a little annoyed that you hadn't told me this considering how close we use to be. I wanted to tell you that I don't think he's right for you but you didn't give me the chance and that just angered me", I sat up and looked at him. "You can't call that judgement for me and yeah we did use to be close" and at this his eyes seemed to darken. "I can because i am your brother and I am meant to protect you. Firstly he's not for you because he plays with girls and I don't want that to happen to you". I looked at him and he seemed full of sincerity but I was sure he was trying to keep me away from Rhydian because he was protective. I nodded and smiled and we hugged for a while and everything seemed nice and I felt happy.
