Did someone say cliché?
No?
Well haHA, too bad! Story development!

Also, you guys who have been commenting and voting -- even just reading -- thank you so much! I love seeing that people enjoy my writing and it always puts a smile on my face.

Anyways, enough of that.
Please enjoy this very cliché rain fluff.

Patton loved the rain. He loved the puddles and the sound of it and the way it made you want to cuddle up with a blanket, some hot chocolate, and watch a movie.

He smiled at Logan when he walked into chemistry, his red rain boots squeaking on the floor. Logan merely pushed up his glasses and gave a raise of his hand -- the closest thing he often got to a wave.

"Good afternoon, Patton," he stated. "Quite unexpected precipitation we seem to be experiencing today."

Patton nodded and laughed, always amused by Logan's word choice. "Yes indeed!" he replied. "Do you like the rain, Logan? I sure do."

The boy gave Patton a thoughtful look. "I suppose I do enjoy certain aspects of stormy weather, but it can definitely be a nuisance -- and I do not enjoy things that hinder my ability to work efficiently."

Patton rolled his eyes. "Oh, you and your work, Logan. The rain is fun!"

"Fun?" Logan asked, raising an eyebrow. "Perhaps to children, yes, but to a young adult such as myself --"

"Goodness," Patton cut Logan off, bringing his hands up. "Somebody needs a lesson in the art of enjoying the little wonders of life."

Logan cleared his throat and gave Patton a pointed look. "Just because I have simply voiced the fact that the rain is an enjoyment to children and not to me does not mean I don't know how to have fun, Patton."

Patton sighed as Mr. Tamm passed out worksheets. "Really?" he asked, skeptical. "What do you do for fun then?"

Logan's gaze shifted to the left as he counted out activities on his fingers. "Word puzzles, hands on puzzles, reading, homework --"

"Woah woah," Patton brought up to hands, pointing a finger at Logan. "Now, if you say you do homework for fun, clearly you need to broaden your options a little bit."

Logan sighed and pursed his lips. "Patton, I do not need to be told by you how to enjoy myself. I simply enjoy doing work and getting things done."

"But all the time?" Patton whined, worried for the boy. This poor kid had probably never even been to an amusement park! "It's decided then, Logan, I'm making you play in the rain with me today."

A look of shock passed over Logan's face. "I am not 'playing' in the rain with you, Patton," he said incredulously.

Patton smiled, poking Logan's chest with his finger. "Yes you are. And there's nothing you can do about it." He laughed in delight when he saw he'd gotten a slight smile out of Logan -- a tiny, reluctant, awkward smile with an eye roll, but a smile nonetheless.

When chemistry ended, Logan and Patton made their way out the door together. Logan did not bring up the rain at all and Patton assumed he had forgotten about their plan to spend time in the rain. However, he definitely had not. "Come on, Logan," Patton said, smiling and grabbing the boy's arm. "You're never too old to have fun."

Logan sighed, letting himself get pulled towards the door. Patton knew he probably could have struggled out of Patton's grip fairly easily if he'd tried, but he didn't. Logan pushed up his glasses and put on his gray hood. "Patton, for the last time, I do have fun -- just not your childish type of fun."

Patton was not at all swayed by his response and did not falter in his walk towards the door. He pushed open the door and rushed out into the rain. Patton did not make any sort of move to put up his yellow rain jacket's hood. Instead, he let the rain cascade down his face and through his hair. He finally let go of Logan's arm and gave a little jump of excitement in the downpour.

Patton didn't focus on his companion much, but saw that Logan smiled a little.

Patton gave Logan a wide grin. "C'mon!"

Logan rolled his eyes and stepped out from the balcony into the rain. He didn't look completely upset by the downpour but didn't look completely enjoying of it either.

Patton gave Logan a look and took his hand, pulling him out further. Logan gripped his hand back, presumably to keep his balance on the slick pavement.

There was a very small amount of students out in the rain. Many resided in the cafeteria, for the rain had kicked up its level of intensity since the morning. The only groups that remained outside was the large mass of drama kids that congregated out by the big oak tree at the end of the lawn, and a few straggling groups hanging by the overhangs. Patton and Logan were the only ones standing blatantly out in the rain.

They spun out in the pour, Logan finally seeming to get the hang of himself. He lifted his face towards the sky and stretched his arms and fingertips out.

Patton himself was in a similar position, enjoying the refreshing chill, spinning and jumping and squealing as rain splashed across his skin. He was absolutely ecstatic and full to the brim with joy. He loved everything the rain had to offer for him and hoped that Logan was also enjoying himself.

Patton finally stopped spinning and stumbled towards Logan, dizzy. He tried to stop in front of the boy, but couldn't control his balance and fell forward. A look of pure hilarious terror crossed his face as he felt himself teeter towards the hard concrete, heart racing but his limbs unable to stop himself from inevitably crashing into the pavement.

Logan lunged out and caught Patton in his arms, nearly falling over with him. When he was able to steady himself and his companion, he laughed -- Logan actually laughed! Patton struggled to pull himself back up and anchored his arms onto Logan's, trying to stay steady. He felt the buzz of adrenaline running through him as he grasped Logan's slick raincoat, a bubbly, happy feeling rising in his chest as he heard the rare occurrence of Logan laughing.

"Sorry," Patton said, color rising to his cheeks. He was embarrassed that he'd fallen but thankful that it was Logan who caught him. Before he completely cast his gaze to the ground, he saw a smile slip onto Logan's face.

"It's quite alright, Patton." Logan replied. "I wouldn't want you to hurt yourself." Patton felt a strange feeling run through him.

After a couple of moments, Logan set Patton completely back on his feet and adjusted his glasses awkwardly. "Shall we make our way back inside for lunch now?"

Patton nodded, avoiding Logan's gaze and lightly treading back to the door behind the boy. He found that much of the excitement remaining in him was not from the rain but from his fall onto Logan, and he let out a chuckle of embarrassment to himself as the instance flashed through his mind again. He felt so silly but Logan hadn't seemed to mind.
