Why Him?
"Ms. Rodriquez, excuse me?" Brandon called out to her in a soft voice from outside of her bathroom door.
"I'm sorry to disturb you and I know that you said not to bother you, but you have a visitor," he informed her.
Luckily, Brandon was on the opposite side of her door. The look she shot towards him, would have had him gather his things immediately, never to return. Her expression easily, would've put Medusa's gaze to shame.
"He said I'd be in big trouble if I didn't tell you that he was here," he went on in an apologetic tone.
"Well, who is it Brandon?" she asked, stepping out of her sanctuary and walking over to snatch her bathrobe off of the hook behind the door.
"He said that you'd know who it is, and I wanted to let you know before I left. It's actually 12:30 now and I'm finished for the day," he let her know.
She mumbled angrily to herself as she walked out of her bedroom, towards the front of her condo. 12:30?... How long had she been in the bathroom? Time had surely flown by.
Normally, she'd never answer a door in her robe, but since Brandon had already let whoever this person was in and himself was on his way out, she decided to take a quick peek. When she reached the end of her hallway, which provided a bird's eye view to the front door, she didn't see anyone.
"Brandon, I thought you said..." she began, as he walked passed her, winking.
He then pointed in the direction of the kitchen, where she suddenly heard a familiar voice, humming. Brandon had just closed the door behind him, ending her chance to voice her displeasure.
"See there, I knew you were going to be a no-show. So, being the gentleman that I am, I brought lunch to you instead," Aquarian told her, taking food boxes out of a brown paper bag from Wong Wok, a local Chinese restaurant.
He sat the food on the countertop, praying that it was still a part of her 'favorite places to eat' list.
"Qu seriously?... Come on now, you know I'd never stand you up on purpose, right?
"Unlike you, who went and dug up all of my information, you didn't provide me with any of yours. I don't have not one of your new numbers because if I did, I would've called you," she explained, trying to apologize.
"Shireece, Bridget, and I pulled an all-niter, and I guess that's why I slept in extra late this morning. I'm sorry," she whined in an apologetic pout, poking out her bottom lip and batting her eyelashes at him.
"Yeah, yeah, sure Tierra, and don't be trying to get me with that ole' puppy dog face girl. This isn't the junior high, any more."
He laughed, trying his best not to look up at her. Unfortunately, he just couldn't resist though, and was surprised to find her standing in the middle of the kitchen with her hair all wet with nothing more than a bathrobe on.
He was pleased that it was the same silk animal print bathrobe that he'd given to her the year before he moved out to Cali, that embraced her glistening body.
"But hey, that 'wet, I just stepped out the shower' look, now that works for me.
"Did I umm... interrupt you? I mean, if you have company, then I can always come back at another time," he suggested sarcastically. He cleared his throat and dramatically began to place the food boxes back into the bag.
"Stop playing Qu, you know damn well I'm the only one who's here. I was in my Jacuzu trying to ward off this killer of a hangover, slash migraine," she told him, rushing over and standing on her tip toes as she tried to reach around him and snatch the box of food away.
